Difference between local and international Courses

Hey, Just wanted to ask : what is the difference between going London to take a undergrad there and taking it here at SIM ? Does it affect the credibility ?

Going to London means you have to fly there? Stay there? Cost incurred is more.

Going to SIM means you just pay for tuition fees.

Or you want the middle-option ?

assuming you have a relevant poly diploma, the first 4 mods can be exempted. (go find which mods get you exemption)

You study the next 4 mods via distance learning (take the exams at British Council each May/June)

and you transfer on campus for Year 3 to finish the last 4 mods and graduate (again, check the UOL website for details on this. Birkbeck clearly states you can transfer in year 2/3 to finish your program on campus. Forget about LSE though.)

I think the cost would be the same or slight more than going to SIM

Entry requirements are different. On campus will ask for better A level grades/Poly GPA.

Distance learning or off campus mode, 2 H2 passes at A levels or a Poly diploma irrespective of your GPA, most probably will suffice.

UOL is an empty shell that award degree certificate from various colleges like LSE. The QA is from LSE & not UOL.

LSE design different degree courses for on-campus and distance learning degree. So those who study distance learning like in SIM will have 'external degree' in their degree to differentiate between on-campus for QA purpose.

LSE break off UOL to award their own degree. So LSE throw distance learning degree courses to UOL.

Now the management (design course curriculum & etc) of these distance learning degree courses are under UOL which is the reason why their degree no longer have 'external degree' words.

So if you ask me the different between UOL in UK & SG (SIM), no different in credibility but you can experience UK culture if you are there.

If you ask me the different between LSE & UOL (in UK & SG) & LSE, it is heaven and earth.

In all other countries, this does not affect credibility, but in sg, they do make a distinction between UOL DL and UK UOL. But honestly, unless its like LSE, other UOL colleges arent v well known, and would probably be around the same as SIM UOL.

A more important difference is the degree classification. 1st class is always better.
