Not THAT frequent a flyer to focus on clocking miles - I use Maybank Horizon for it - so 2 miles per $1 spent on overseas travel. I have Premiermiles too, so I enjoy my 2 annual visits to lounges on PP.

Locally, I prefer cash back given my spending habits.

The VI cards are IMO more of "feel good" status recognition - so good to have but hard for me to justify anything else beyond that.

All in, priority banking is definitely a good-to-have with all its perks here and there. But perhaps I need to work harder for a few more years before I can join this semi-prestige club.

I get your point there - so it really depends on how much capital and assets under your belt.

SCB VI is given to it's priority customer but it does has an annual fee of $300.

Not sure what is the min asset req for SCB, had a feeling that it is lower to attract business.

Don't worry about SCB VI annual fees, I never have to pay, just call their hotline and they will waive it.

one additional perk: changing fresh notes during cny.

you get priority, go lounge, take a sit, drink some coffee tea, wait for your turn, then go meet the teller and do whatever you need. It's a big plus point, so far I like UOB and stchart for this service...

btw, have you seen the uob pbanking hall at mbfc? wow.

Yes, changing new notes during CNY is a good one, no need to queue and can ask for as many angbaos as you wish.

Also if you do lots of banking services at their branches, you can always use the priority queue to cut queue, especially at crowded places like ION and Vivo.

I couldn't spot any differences personally except that in priority you pay extra for the status.

Btw, there is also another status, called "World Partner". You can ask for it if you have at least 20k. As for benefits under "WP", you can make free overseas bank wires (all fees are waived except one - foreign bank charges which are $50 if you pay in SGD or US$28 if you have USD account or equivalent if in EUR); free foreign currency withdrawal /deposit in branch (normally 1.5%) and if I am not mistaken 1 free withdrawal per month from any ATM in SG.

but for this card, is the Fd rates comparable to what the priority account offer?

Re: CNY new notes
The banks are also known to set aside a stash of notes for priority customers. Eg, for some reason, new $50 notes are in short supply this year. By last week, most banks branches will refuse to release new $50 notes to non-Priority customers.

SCB VI Card
Earning rates aren't great, but you basically can get a fair bit of points for whatever existing relationship you already have with them (investments, loans, etc). Also, as a SCB card, you can use it to pay for a whole bunch of stuff through internet banking, which you normally would not be getting any points on. So, it's still not a bad card.

Are you a frequent flyer? That's one good qn to ask yourself.

DBS is not offering Visa Infinite because DBS Treasuries offers Amex (DBS Treasuries Black Elite Amex). It offers 1.2miles per $ spent and twice the amount for overseas spend.

If you look at SCB's VI, it's not fantastic, because it's only 1miles per $. Given that it is supposed to be some "special card", the rewards aren't that rewarding.

HSBC - not that I know if. But if you have at least a 6-digit deposit with them, maybe you can use that as a basis to ask for their newly launched Visa Infinite which has some nice perks according to bros here.

Honestly i rather they give me the VI for treasures. The Treasures amex isnt accepted everywhere, if amex is accepted, amex plat prob gives you more discount or points.

Hsbc VI you could earn 120k/annum. and apply too!

there's a very nice perk that SCB's VI has that other banks do not: ability to pay income tax and get the miles.
