Hi,

I have just installed a new 2Gb DDR2 RAM on my PC in addition to the current 2Gb DDR2 RAM.

CPU-Z reads that 4096MB is installed. But when I check using my Task Manager, the physical memory is only 3109MB. Checking via My Computer, it only reads as 2.96Gb Ram.

Why are they differing values in RAM? Did I miss out anything in installation?

Are you running 32-bit OS? If so, that's the reason.

32-bit supports up to 3GB (3.2GB) ram.

You need to use 64-bit to fully utilize RAM size higher than 3GB.

Yes, I am. Regardless of Windows version? Or only applicable to Win XP?
