Hi all. Im buying a laptop for my daughter school art project. She chose digital art (the only 1 in class). Anyway after deliberating to get her drawing tablet or drawing tablet and laptop or just a touch screen laptop, i go for touch screen laptop as she can use for her school work in future.

So im asking any recommendation for those who knows about digital arts. Cause going to expo later to do survey the pricing.

Appreciate the suggestions. Thank you.

Assuming that she will be doing it for the next x years, a separate Wacom tablet / Digital drawing tablet-style is preferable.

That said if it’s on a short term basis - a touch screen laptop / tablet I.e. Surface / iPad Pro are alternatives as well. They do have pressure sensitivities and levels for different shading needs though not as good as compared to the mentioned.

Agreed, a Wacom tablet / Digital drawing tablet is better option due to the surface.

Go to retailer such as Challenger (some stores) that have some display set and range to get the feel of these tablets.

Probably she will use it for 2 years since she taking her N level this year. So if buying drawing tablet with screen it may be left to dust after that. If buy tablet without screen she complain that it is hard to draw on something and look at another screen. At least with a laptop she still can do other projects but of course the price also :s22:

Hmmm good idea to let her try out but like i mention above she feel awkward when drawing on something but look at another screen. For laptop need to know good minimum specs.

These type of tablet is not only for drawing but can be useful for many other purposes.

Beside freehand drawing the table can use for characters writing as in languages and hook up to other computers for other usage.

A good practice on hand/eye/mind movements.

Forgot to clarify. She need to do the art project everyday. She need to bring her work to and fro from home. The school will not supply any desktop. If using tablet she still need to use a laptop/desktop which the school not supplying.
