Is there any company organizing the above which is CITREP funded ?

Temasek Poly conducting one next year, 3 years full time

If you already got a diploma or degree, i will suggest you to go for CHFI instead.

It is highly recommended for prospective students to undergo CEH training before taking the CHFI.

This is a course for those new to IT with roadmap to in depth to digital forensic. Would be a good course to prep yourself for e career of digital forensic examiner.

where is a gd starting point to look for such jobs as i couldn't find any willing to take me in or rather lack of opportunities in the jobs search website. I got a degree in computer security btw..

SP DISM Course

I think the DISM course in SP prepares the students for the CEH course. So far I understand that it is the only poly has this offer.

After CEH, students can take CHFI.

For working and practical level, SANS 508 would be a good choice. It leads to GCFA (GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst). There is a pro an cons between academic (diploma) vs professional certification (Non-academic)

I think only authority such as Police or Mindef will require Forensic Analyst. Correct me if i am wrong, in Singapore, i don't think external Forensic info can be used in court.

But you'll need forensics to know if it's happened before you can alert the police. How are you gonna call the police if you dont know?

That depends on what type of incidents you are talking abt. Most company should hav a basic incident handling process to trigger the authority. Those process normally just require basic forensic skill like looking at firewall/IPS logs, or system logs. In depth forensic normally will leave it to expert (or authority), coz bear in mind any tamper of information (without proper Chain of Custody) with deem unusable in court as evidence.

So studying a diploma in computer forensic area, with there be any advantages? Is it easy to get a job in the police force? If not, what about private org, do you think there are enough jobs to work in the area of computer forensci?

I wouldn't claim to know alot of the digital forensics job market. But I do know that forensics examiner / analyst work is required even in the corporate world. Take SLA fraud case, some of the evidence would be in digital in nature. Digital evidence may not always end up being used in the court of law but are more often used in internal investigations within a company. After all most of our business transactions are electronic nowadays. So I guess I'm saying there are a lot of opportunities for
people with digital forensics skills and knowledge.

What I heard (was from tp) is that the Digital Forensics course has partnerships with the Information System Audit & Control Association (ISACA) and Associate of Information Security Professionals (AISP) Student Chapters. Plus sponsorships from ST Electronics (Info-Security), IDA, industry partners and TP itself.

And I fully agree with what c@ffeine says, cracking down on cyber-crimes do seem to be on the rise.

ps: plus the CSI factor do add to the appeal

I would advise in talking to the course manager . then rest is up to you to make a decision.

totally agree that diploma in digital forensics is more focus in investigating digital evidence and stuff. Comparing to another IT course in temasek poly, there's this course Cyber and Digital Security, where it covers more area of the IT security and forensics industry.

totally agree that diploma in digital forensics is more focus in investigating digital evidence and stuff. Comparing to another IT course in temasek poly, there's this course Cyber and Digital Security, where it covers more area of the IT security and forensics industry.

There is also SP, with the Infocomm Security Management diploma.

Forensics is very niche imho. I personally believe that auditing or network/system defense skills may be better in netting a job.
