Dilemma between local universities

Hi, my A Level results are ABB/ABC and i have been offered NUS FASS & NTU Biz. Other than global rankings, I am curious about the campus life (culture, CCAs...), teachers and the kind of biz degrees offered in both unis, anyone mind sharing their experiences? And is the 3-years direct honours programme for NTU Biz really true? I heard that only a minority actually graduated with hons. I am also thinking of appealing to NUS Biz... not sure if it's a wise choice.

In terms of environment, nus is slightly better with many conducive study locations.

I believe both nus and ntu biz schools are equally competitive with those seminar style lectures where you have to speak in class to earn participation points. If you have trusted friends, they will share what they know with you and vice versa.

Not sure how many in ntu graduated with hons but you have to attain a certain cap score to qualify for hons, 3.2 (3rd class hons) and above. The programme can be completed within 3 yrs but if you want to get a good cap, you can take lesser mods per sem but grad longer than 3 years.

In terms of competition, nus biz is more competitive than ntu biz as their entry req is higher, people with excellent grades are offered the course.

really? during my time, ntu biz is harder to get in. have friends who are offered nus biz but not ntu biz. those in ntu biz who applied for nus biz got it too.

Its not hard to get honours at all. Third class also honours. And its super easy to get lol.

go for ntu biz! i personally feel ntu is more vibrant and fun than nus, largely due to hall life.

Kinda agree with this. Lots of the 'smart' people I knew in JC went to FASS, all of them ended up leaving after 3 years and not doing the final honours year. Is there a reason to that? FYP really that hard for FASS meh? In NTU its just either a literary critique or empirical research for HSS. And with the low employability for FASS/HSS grads, are they really that confident in getting employed with just a pass degree?

um... I was from NTU and I didn't find NTU hall life that amazing.

the cut-off for nus business has been slightly higher than ntu business in the past few years...

a lot of fass/hss-type private sector jobs such as HR, advertising, PR etc don't really care about honours. that's why it makes more sense to leave early and get more working experience (and save on uni fees!). do honours only if you want to go grad school or civil service or you just want to keep your options open. I did honours year (NTU didnt allow me to opt out) but if I had a choice I wouldn't have because I was very sure I wanted to join private sector and also because I didn't see the relevance of FYP to my future goals.

Hmmm. I guess it does make sense if you have already secured a job by the end of your third year. Then forgoing honours year is not a bad choice.

hi everyone, thanks for all the advice! i just went for the NUS FASS Open House today and felt that it gave me more insights on the courses im interested in (Economics/Sociology/Global Studies) so im kinda leaning towards FASS now (although Biz has its pros as well). Hopefully i will make an informed decision which i won't regret in the future!!

Cos most of their GPA didn't make the cut for honours. Without compulsory internship and opportunities for exchange programme, naturally it is best to leave and not pay for one year's of tuition fees. FASS degrees are very academic. It lost its appeal because it is too generic except econs and psychology majors.
