Direct Entry to Second Year @ NTU (CBE)

Hi, I'd like to ask anyone who had experienced direct entry into second year in NTU (Polytechnic students), if possible Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering a few questions: (as I'm pretty much confused myself too)

1. Do you get to exempt all of your Year 1 modules, or do you do a mix and match of both year 1 & 2 modules?

2. What would generally be the workload like? Will you overload yourself?

3. How hard would it be to mingle around? (As you'll have a mixture of friends from year 1 and 2)

4. I went to look up the suggest study plan for Direct Entry, and there's a total of 109 AUs, but in order to graduate I'd require 139 AUs, does that mean that due to the direct entry I'm exempted from 30AUs worth of modules?

Sorry if it's some simple questions but I'm dying to know some answers

You don't get to choose which modules you are exempted from. Yes, you are exempted from a total of 30AUs. You will still be required to take some year 1 modules that are important. Take a look at the curriculum structure. That is all the modules you will be taking. In general you will be taking a little bit more per semester than your 4-year peers. But its not so much that you'd overwork yourself. 139 over 8 semesters is 17.375 modules per semester. Whereas 109 over 6 semesters is 18.17 modules per semester. The difference is barely one module per semester. If you follow the curriculum to the letter, you will graduate in time. If you find the workload too much, you can also take modules during the holidays. They are called special terms. Use your holidays to clear more modules. Hope this helps.
