Just wanted to write this to inform and see what opinions you guys have after I received quite a bad service I would say from dell themselves.

Firstly, background check, I bought the new Dell XPS 13 9350 earlier this year, around feb/march.

Recently, I realised my chasis had some sound when I move it around. I contacted dell, they arranged a technician to come down and replace some parts and they found out 2 missing screws inside. (This moment i was like "Whaaaaaat?") Because I never opened and touch the internal of my laptop so how are 2 screws missing? Small problem, technician help me reported and all. Chasis sound fixed.

Few days later, my touchscreen suddenly stopped working and my right USB port on the right will cause my pc to shut down when I plug in any usb device(even if it's just a iphone cable without connecting it to the phone). I got a little pissed off, called them. They ordered new parts like daughterboard, new monitor and such. The technician came down and change the parts for me. This is the part I felt pissed off about. They had to swap my previous monitor for a new one, no biggy except i paid for a dbrand skin and i cannot pass it over(no choice). I tried to reach their support on twitter(hopefully more responsive), they say they don't cover because not part of their product. Fair enough but when i think about it, I didn't do anything and it was after their technician came down then my monitor stopped working. So technically, if their laptop didn't have problems, i would not have to change monitor and lose my dbrand skin.

Few days ago, i realised my power button dented a little to the right, but still works. I called in and their service officer asked me to email him personally regarding the issue but he took quite a long time to respond(small issue) but they told me they will only replace when it stop working. I feel this is a little unprofessional as I want to change it before it happens, and who knows after they fix this issue, will another issue pop out again?

Conclusion: I felt angry as everything after they send a technician down to fix my laptop, another issue pops out. And also about the dbrand skin, i emailed their support, it has been about 1-2 weeks now and i have not yet received any reply from them, but dbrand was nice enough to offer me to just pay for shipping to get it replaced(shoutout to them if you're looking for skins company with good support). I personally feel the dell XPS 13 laptop is good but i feel their service can be more professional and improved significantly. Also, the 2 year warranty really throw me off when i start facing problems, as i worry it might be too short, and after that period if my laptop have issues, i have to pay for the repairs. On the side note, i bought the highest end model for the 9350, which is the 3200x1800, i7 processor, touchscreen one. I am personally a pc builder myself and i take a lot of pride in building my pc and my friends', therefore i wanted to write this to hopefully warn you guys before you buy something from dell. No hates, but a little pissed off and a thought for you before buying their product.

Dell onsite replacement is good whereas others need to send in service centre and wait longer, pro-support takes only next biz day, not sure what you expected them to do with the dbrand skin, the skin cannot be re-pasted once it is on. :s11:

I know it's a risk. But if you think of it, I didn't do anything to spoil my touchscreen, it just spoilt out of no reason, and even after the first technician came down to fix the first problem. So it's like i feel it's abit unfair for me as I didn't do anything to damage it but when they fix it. I lose my skin. And they didn't even reply my email that i sent to request for a compensation.

As for the power button i might call and request to speak to someone of a higher management. Might have a higher chance of getting it fixed.

Honestly i agree that the on site warranty is definitely a plus. Maybe just my luck? But also i feel that the warranty could be longer. Let's say 3 years? As the warranty speaks alot about the company's confidence of how long the product can last.

I am sure if laptop companies give us 3 yrs warranty and no issue arises within that 3 years but broke down immediately awhile after the 3 yrs warranty, we would still have something to comment hahaha...

same as localITguy, my experience with Dell has been a good one..dare say one of the best in service and warranty ...
I also own a XPS 13... had some problem/damaged parts.... but they came to my home to replace the parts no questions asked although it's my fault.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience and I would encourage you to continue and pursue to fix the 'power button' problem before it manifest into something else.

I do own 2 ASUS and lately MSI... for me anytime DELL. My ASUS has problem with keybd (1 key not working) ..barely 3 months old...have not repaired this yet because of their staunch service protocols.
MSI...software/driver issue suspected. By pass this for time being...need to find time for bringing down to MSI for diagnostic.

Most if not all the other brands requires you to bring the notebook down to their service center for diagnosis... then if problem identified.. be prepared to leave it with them for another 3~7 days.... then go collect. Time and hassle ?

Dell, with their on-site warranty is heavenly, they come, repair on same day in the comfort of your home. This is in sharp contrast to the customer service personnel in the respective centers for some other.

Just speaking from my experience as a consumer... I am not affiliated to Dell and/or any other brands.

After writing, to think of it... why so many problems..across all brands...what happens to the good old QC??

Most laptops also 1-2 years, maybe except for thinkpads. If you need more then pay for extended warranty. As for the skin, you can try to request for compensation but I am not surprised if you don't get it.

Just our opinion:
TS is just unlucky.

Firstly, the LCD failure just happens to come after the screw loose. LCD couldn't have failed because the technician dismantle and assemble the chasis. If the technician did a blotch job, then the LCD fault should surface immediately.
Technically it is just not possible.

Secondly, for any items that is non Dell and attached to the machines, there is the risk the user have to take. How could the brand manage the process even if they want to compensate?
Say if skin, they agree to compensate, then
what if some customers stick Swarovski crystals to the casing?
If they still compensate, then if some customers stick some diamonds to the casing? :)(We ever encounter customers who did that).
There will be no end on the compensation model. It is also difficult to prove the original cost spent by users to buy this. This process will not work.
The only way to get coverage for this is to buy insurance. This is how it works.

For the power button dented to the right, it could be irregular placement issue. You can try to ask for a technician to come down to check for you.
Just say it affects your normal usage, maybe stiff in pressing or something. They will send someone to service.

If it does not affect your normal usage, the case will be classified as a comestic damage, which is not covered under warranty terms. They are not authorized to send anyone down. Note that Dell have a strict SOP and policy which their appointed service partners have to follow. Their service partners will not be able to claim from Dell for the service if your service call is not eligible under the warranty terms. :)

Our 2 cents.

Dell in never good in this area. Mostly they are targetted to coporate users.
