The privilege accorded to some members who post Mandarin news articles or replies needs to be revoked.
It is ironic to see some racists / xenophobes keep accusing certain nationalities of engaging in discriminatory job practices, etc, but none of them has ever voiced out that non-English posts are discriminatory towards other users.

It sounds like it's a problem only when it affects them.

As this website is indirectly funded by tax payers' monies, we should all have the privilege of enjoying every member's posts.

I agree that SPH Media will be funded by up to $900m of tax money.

But if you are enforcing only English threads then you are discriminating against minorities who cannot understand English.

Furthermore our national language is Malay.

So are you an agent trying to stir discriminatory posts here?

Hey mascot of enlightenment,

What's the 1 common language all races use to communicate with each other with no added inconveniences in good ole' sg?
What's the working language for govt agencies and businesses, including a certain media organisation?

Thanks for giving us the privilege to enjoy your post here.

Here’s what I would do.

If anyone shares an article in a language that I don’t understand, the natural reaction would be to ask the TS to translate in English in case he forgets.

Either that, or make use of Google translate which is a privilege we all have.

I see you have yet to gain enlightenment.

The Singapore constitution states the 4 languages of Singapore to be Malay English Chinese Tamil.

There are Singaporeans who cannot use English to communicate.

Are you suggesting we discriminate against them by banning them from using one of the four languages stated in the Constitution?

Are you even a Singaporean or a foreign agent?

Thanks for the suggestion. We will take it into consideration and discuss internally whether it is feasible. :)

Currently we do not have any rule disallowing forum members from posting in different languages.
