...unwittingly creates a new hygiene problem...

...the HDB void deck floors where these recycling machines are located are often stained with the spilt contents of the half emptied drink cans....makes the whole place looks really dirty...

That time I juz want to return 2 bottles after dinner. Have 2 people with 1 big bag of bottles. I wait so long, my nephew also become restless and complain. If not coz must educate right value in him, I will dump in bin already. Now juz teach him bring big water bottle before going out to eat.

in Europe, where the recycling machines are placed in supermarkets, there is sometimes a tap right beside to rinse the bottle/can.

People do not wash the cans and bottles. Transfer straight from trash bin to this machine.

End result is just another form of trash bin with contaminated contents that cannot be recycled and go straight to landfill. Zero percent recycling rate and white elephant that cost more money to clean and maintain.

Cans and bottles that not washed can still be recycled bah.
Before they recycle the cans/bottles, they also will wash it mah.

the thing is.. alot of the older unable to scan bottle/cans they still charge 10cents but unable to return... full of ****... sometimes u dont know till u try to return it

this one need contact them. either manufacturer never enter barcode into system or the machine database not updated.

start of scheme i got 1 bottle keep getting rejected because of invalid barcode. i lazy contact anyone just wait few weeks try again can liao, guess someone informed them.

They just collect regardless of whether cans are "eligible" or not

May be if the BCRS company isn't so slooow , can complain to them.or authorities

IMHO.
I think no one wants to solve this rinse/wash issue, it has been around since the blue bins.

At least people don't wash I don't get charge 10cent when I buy can drinks
