Disk Boot Error - Warning sign?

Hi all,

Just had a disk boot error scare and it was resolved through unplugging all the SATA cables from the drives and connecting the boot SSD to another SATA port. Wondering if this is a sign of some component failing in the PC? Anyone have experience with this?

Method 1: Startup Repair tool

1. Start the system to the installation media for the installed version of Windows.
Note For more information, see Create installation media for Windows.

2. On the Install Windows screen, select Next > Repair your computer.

3. On the System Recovery Options screen, select Next > Command Prompt.

4. After Startup Repair, select Shutdown, then turn on your PC to see if Windows can boot properly.

The Startup Repair tool generates a log file to help you understand the startup problems and the repairs that were made.
You can find the log file in the following location:

%windir%\System32\LogFiles\Srt\Srttrail.txt

Sorry wasn't clear. Have only a hdd besides the SSD which is my boot disk. Oh... And one internal DVD writer.

The problem somewhat came back when i booted up today. Restart and suddenly everything ok

Suspect your HDD is going up lorry, causing bootup issue.
Try scan for bad sector using HDTune.

Don't shutdown and avoid doing anything on your pc until you backup all important stuff to another storage. Only after backup then do diagnostics. Restarts and diagnostics themselves put added stress that might just kill it once and for all.

Bad sata port, bad sata cable... or even just loose sata cable...

I've seen enough to not care

Also, PSU, if reducing the number of HDD helped

Your OS seem to be too old for your hardwares, you might also want to check if sata is supported in XP. Also Download and install SP3 might close up the gap between your ardwares and OS.

install crystal disk info and check SMART for any yellow exclamation error on both ssd and hdd.

it can even be the disk priority got changed in the bios.

well, backup your stuff to be safe.
