Hey hardware clinic peeps!

I'm looking to upgrade my setup soon and I have a few questions regarding the placement of my displays.

My current Rig is
Seasonic M12II-750W
MSI R9 280x
DELL U2312HM
8GB DDR3 RAM

I'm looking to add a secondary monitor, to increase productiveness.
It would be good if this monitor is the same but unfortunately DELL has stopped production of their great U2312HM.
So i'm sourcing for a similar display as possible and I've found two.
DELL S2340L
DELL P2314H

My third display would be a HDTV(42") up on my wall. It's purpose is to play movies and a few of my PC games such as Assassin's Creed & FIFA.
I plan to connect these via a display splitter.
In other words, the secondary monitor and TV shall share the same display. So i can toggle the display to either be on the secondary monitor(for work) or the TV(for movies/games).
I'll be around 2m away from the TV.
I'm still looking for a budget Full HDTV(1080p). under 500? or more if its worth it!

Questions
-Any reviews on the secondary monitor? 2340L vs 2314H ? or any recommendations?
-Can my rig handle this setup? (2 monitors + 1 HDTV)
-If I'm not using the HDTV, and it's turned off, will it still be detected as a display? I'm afraid i lose my mouse should i move it too quickly and thus supposedly moving it onto the HDTV.
-Any recomendations for the HDTV? I do not require "SMART" features, it will purely be just another display for my movie watching and light gaming.

Thanks alot for reading this and do give your inputs!
I'm open to suggestions :)

If you want another same model U2312HM, you can purchase a used one for around $160. I wouldn't recommend the S-series as it's a glossy display, compared to the U-series's matte finish.

Yes

3. If I'm not using the HDTV, and it's turned off, will it still be detected as a display? I'm afraid i lose my mouse should i move it too quickly and thus supposedly moving it onto the HDTV.

You need to change the settings in Screen Resolution to disable the TV. Or Windows+P if you know how.

How far are you sitting from the TV?
HD or FHD?

Responding to the questions I can answer...

Going by specs, the P2314H should match your existing monitor better. Antiglare + tilt/swivel/pivot stand. The 2340 is glossy and only tilt stand.

In win 7 & 8, I can toggle my secondary display (on and off) by using Windows Key + P shortcut. When it's off, the mouse can't move onto that screen.

It should work similarly with a 3 display setup?

Alright I look around for a used U2312HM to consider too.

and okay I see Windows+P brings up the configurations for dual display, what about triple display?

I'll be about 300-400m away from the TV? hope to get FHD(1080p)!

Thanks for your reply!
