Displayport Problem?

Currently i am getting this issue whereby when i cold boot my pc with displayport, the monitor does not detect any input. For some reason, switching on my monitor, then the pc seems to be working.

However when i switch over to my HDMI cable, all is well.

I am using a Dell U2417H and RX 480.

Wondering if it could be the mDP to DP cable that was supplied with the monitor. Any ideas?

if you meant the source input settings, i have tried manually switching and letting it auto detect but still the same.

in most cases, due to "faulty" DP cables.....

Try buy a new one or replace it.

It seems normal to me with my Asus mobo.
My PC contains 1 DP going over to my monitor and a HDMI cable that connects to the TV.

In early 2016 before any new Bios update, the PC stupidly makes my TV its Primary screen during startup before finally switching back to my monitor at the login screen.

But after the next Bios update, it now makes my monitor its primary screen. But yes, my monitor has to be turned on first or it will change to the TV when it is starting up. But thankfully my Acer XB271HU turns itself on automatically whenever I turn on the main power.

Thus my conclusion, perhaps you have 1 DP cable and 1 HDMI plugged in? DP cables are smart interfaces that knows when your monitor is not turned on and will default to another source after all.

So by faulty, means that it isnt a true certified DP cable right?

Ah yes, i have a PS4 connected by HDMI together with my PC on Displayport.
So by your conclusion, the only solution to this is just simply switching on the monitor first, then the pc just to let it detect that the monitor is on before sending a signal?

try remove HDMI and just connect DP cable

Seems like a BIOS update did the trick. Will continue monitoring again. Thanks guys!
