Not for foreigner.

Er, what? Dividends paid by US-listed stocks to foreign investors are slugged 30% withholding tax (except in certain weird cases like muni bonds, but in those cases, the yield is almost always lower to offset the tax break).

Glad to see you pop by. Any thoughts on how (or should it?) a dividend portfolio would fit in relation to your recommendations in the eBook?

8.4% dividend but with some questions on the gearing, refinancing of MTN due in January 2017, refinancing local Japanese debt maturing in FY2018.

Don't be hard up over dividends.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't be hard up over dividends.
Best to find stocks that have ok dividends but strong growth fundamentals.

Price move because of catalyst. So have to find near-term catalyst .. that you think will move the price up..

No, I did not pay any withholding tax. My investment is mainly bond,CEF,ETF and preferred trust (no stocks).. I get the full interest and dividend all the times . I remember I sign a tax form not to be subjected to withholding tax.
Got leh, been taxed 30% for 4 years liao. You mean you never pay tax for holding US stocks as a Singaporean?

Maybe I got confused with the taxes I paid. When I work in the US, I paid tax on all dividend and interest from my investment as part of my income tax. When I come back to the Spore, I don't file any more US taxes. As for withholding tax, the brokerage did auto deduct them on dividend from US stock...but since now I don't own US stock ...only bond,CEF,ETF and preferred trust , I never see any withholding tax on my brokerage statement.

I bought quite many times, started from 55 hkd per share, back then yield was around 7 %, now drop already due to price appreciation.
I just checked in Yahoo Finance, the yield is 7.12% ..much better than our local bank. Did u use a local brokerage or IB to buy?

I used IB. The dividend normally 0.51 usd or 0.5 usd per year, you can check it against current price.

The management has promised consistent dividend payout(absolute amount) and they are selling non performing assets to improve earnings and at the same time doing sharebuybacks.

You can keep a look out for its third quarter result. I have plan to raise my stake to at least 10 k shares in HSBC, so my view may be biased.
