Hi all pros,

I am currently attempting to DIY my own system after years. I have a few queries so hope anyone who has any insight could shed some light. And also, any comments and advice that would improve/correct the configuration are welcome too!
A little background on what I need:
1) I don't think I am going to overclock but may do it in future.
2) I am a sucker for future-proof + value for money. So I like all the fanciful gold vs bronze PSU, i7 over i5, but still with money in consideration, so forgive me :s13:
3) Most parts, if not all except mobo+processor, I am going to get from Amazon.
4) System is primarily used for gaming, no video editing, no rocket science.
5) I need a system with small footprint, so I am looking at mATX and mITX.
6) I will be using own Windows 7

Below consist the parts I am going to get:

SSD
Samsung Evo 840 120GB
HDD
Western Digital Blue 1TB
RAM
Kingston Fury-X 8GB x1
Casing
Corsair Carbide Airflow 240
PSU
Choice P1: EVGA SuperNOVA 750G1 750W
Choice P2: Cooler Master V750 - Compact 750W 80 PLUS Gold Modular PSU (SLI/CrossFire Ready)
Choice P3: ThermalTake Smart Modular 730W (from SLS)
Choice P4: Cooler Master G750 Semi-Modular 80+ Bronze (from SLS)
GPU
Choice G1: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming 4GB
Choice G2: Gigabyte Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Mini ITX Overclocked 4GB
Choice G3: Palit/Zotac GTX 970 (from SLS)
MOBO
Choice M1: Asus Maximus VII Impact
Choice M2: Asus Maximus VII Gene
Choice M3: Asus Z97I Plus
Choice M4: ASRock Z97E-ITX

Processor
i7 4790 (may opt for i5)

You may take the current Amazon price -$10 to -$20 USD for reference.

Options:
[Preferred] Choices P1+G1+M2, total price is about $1750 (inclusive all the tax+shipping fee and what not)
[Budget] Choices P3/P4+G3+M4, total price is about $1630
[Outsource] Get the set from AfterShock Tremor series, about $1850

Questions:
1) Are the cables from the PSUs long enough to reach all the hardware in the said casing?
2) I read that M2 can have 5 PWM fans, is there enough power slots/sockets to utilize all 5 fans without sacrificing other hardware, e.g. can only put 1 hard disk.
3) Can all the mentioned PSUs fit into the casing?
4) Will any hardware block any other hardwares for M1/M2 and with the said casing?
5) Will M2 fit into the casing?
6) Which combinations would you have opted? And why?

If you see any issue with the setup, please feel free to comment and correct. Any comments on the build are also welcome!

i would advise you not to buy something that is heavy and big from amazon like psu.

they are one of those thing which most likely to fail after 1- 2 year. plus they are so heavy and big that if you want to ship it back for rma, it will not worth the $.

if you are buying any ssd which is smaller than 256 gb, buying local and amazon have not much different.

1) Would be a better idea to build an OC system after you have done enough research about OC. Get a B85 M-ATX mobo with an i5 4460 instead, games generally do not make use of hyperthreading and there are little performance gaing from using an i7.

2) Would rather that you get a Crucial MX100 SSD as it is cheaper and is just as fast for gaming.

3) You do not need a 750W PSU. A 600W PSU is good enough for most single GPU systems. Get a Superflower HX 600 for $99-106 at SLS instead.

4) Case fans have their own connectors on the mobo. Can always use a fan controller, fan hub, fan splitter or direct connection to PSU if you run out of fan connectors on the mobo.

5) The Corsair Air 240 has a seperate component for HDD/SSD/PSU and another component for the mobo and GPU, so there should not be any blockage. Do note that the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 is too long for the casing.

6) Can always buy PSU extension cables if the PSU wires are too short.

7) Future-proof and value just does not mix. The most effective and value orientated method to do future-proofing is to just upgrade your rig regularly.

8) Name all games that you wish to play with your rig.

I strongly suggest to get the GFX, Mobo and PSU locally as these are the items that are very prone to failure.

Thanks everyone for the response. I noticed there's an unanimous idea that GPU, MOBO and PSU should be purchased locally.
Just a side thought, if I do purchase it locally, am I looking at 1 year warranty?
If so, then there is no difference from getting online since normally (keyword) it will not fail that fast. So if my online purchased product fails after 1 year, will I be not in the same situation as if I bought it locally? Or could it be that my online purchased product cannot be locally RMA-ed even if I am willing to pay, versus locally bought product that is out of warranty period?
Forgive my stubborness :D

Also, I was just reading and I saw this thing about CPU cooler. If I DIY, do I have to get a CPU fan cooler to fix it atop the processor myself?

Also, can anyone recommend a good wifi/bluetooth card to be used and compatible with Asus Maximus VII Gene?

Any wifi card and bluetooth will work.

Warranty is dependent on the product itself, like PSU usually can be 5/7 years.

Gpu, motherboard have warranty of up to 3/5 years. And do not take it for granted that parts don't spoil so fast. There are quite a few bros here that have parts that is spoiled on arrival or spoil within months of usage.

Shipping cost will be very very expensive if you wanted to RMA overseas part. Local distros will not do the RMA for you even if you want to pay them. You will need a US address for the overseas distro to send it to when they finished RMA, so basically you are paying for a round trip.

Daryl what is your current setup?

you are going to build everything from scratch meh?

like the rest had say warrenty depend on item. some gpu and mobo have 2-3 yr, psu 5-7 yr.

you dun really need cou fan unless you are going to overclock your cpu lo or you want blink blink light for your set up
