Hey guys,

My 6-7years cpu just died on me 3 weeks back. I'm planning to get a new set up this coming Saturday at SLS. I'll be reusing only my gpu only from my old rig, running on sapphire hd6870.

Usage
-Microsoft office
-light gaming(dota2, cs-go, fifa, pes)
-normal web sufing
-YouTube
-movies

I'm actually looking into matching it with the new h97 motherboard with an i5 4460. I did some reaserch and come up with some parts in mind. Hope the experienced guys can advise me on it. I don need os, keyboard, mouse. Budget wise 1k-1.2k.

Asus h97 plus/ msi h97 gaming3/ gigabyte h97-d3h with an i5 4460
G skill value ram (4gx2, 8gx2)
Seasonic m12 II modular 620w/ sf 600m gold modular ( if I were to upgrade a gpu, perhaps a 750w is safer?)
Samsung dvd rw
Western.d blue 1tb
Nzxt phantom 410 black

Did I miss out anything? Hope those experienced guys can advise me on the current set up. Appreciate it.

Asrock h81 + i5 4460 ~ 298
CRUCIAL PC3-1333/1600 DDR3 ~99
ssd samsung evo 840 250gb ~ 135 (lazada monday master card deal)
sapphire r9 280 dual x ~285 (fuwell)(optional)
WD blue 1tb ~68
nzxt phantom 410 ~154
FSP aurum gold 500w~ 89

total 1130~
Prices from trade pac unless otherwise stated

Forget the disc drive. also h81 is enough motherboard. h97 isn't very practical unles you wanna run stuff in raid. Also for your usage a graphics card upgrade isn't really necessary but i put one in anyway.

Hey guys, thanks for the effort. My friend ask me to get the gigs b85-d3h instead. Any advise? And for the ssd only help boot windows and load other software faster only right? So it's optional isn't it?

If possible get a ssd

Case can consider Corsair 450D or Fractal design arc midi r2

Superflower hx 600 will be a good psu

Would the giga b85 be a better choice over as rock h81 motherboard?

If I were to upgrade my gpu too would Sapphire r9 270x be a good choice?

Well, still prefer the nzxt phantom for its stylist look. Lol.
Thanks Jian19 for the other case options.

Appreciate all the fast response from the guys here, pardon me for being fickle minded. I would like to compare more h81 board before making a decision. I've been using gigabyte board till now, any pros can recommend a few more h81 board, not necessery to be giga, msi or asus will do too, so I can do some comparison. Pardon me for saying this, as my circle of friends didn't really have good experinces with asrock board. Thanks in advance.

Thanks bro jian too, will include a ssd if possible. If for normal how big do I need? Kindly advice.

1) Well, there is the Asus H81M-A, Asus H81M-K, MSI H81M-E35 V2, Gigabyte GA-H81M-DS2 and Gigabyte GA-H81M-S2PV. These are all the boards avaliable in the local market that is not Asrock.

Do note that the MSI one is the second revision of the board and the Gigabyte ones have 3-4 revisions of the same board, please scrutinize the boards very carefully.

2) A 128GB or 256GB SSD would do.

haha in case, the colours, mosfets or capacitors are different from the sample pictures shown online that TS had seen online.

Alt-X probably don't want any unnecessary complaints being brought against those retailers.

Why suddenly board revisions become part of consideration?

I scared later TS get a board that is slightly different from what is shown from the website and then later go to CASE and complain and then got saga again.
