Hi all,

My Laptop has crashed on me and will be needing a pc.

Normal use it for checking emails and doing word documents, and some casual gaming like League of legends. Budget will be about $1000 (including win7). Possible to help me draft some builds with / without monitor? Would really prefer to get all from a shop >.<

Thanks in advance.

nice one. Been lost in touch with PC building. Didn't know that we can get full config with HDD+SSD combo as well as windows software and monitor within virtually $1k budget.

Is xigmatek PSU good?

IF lets say you dont really need a monitor. The specs bump isnt that much. Cause its already quite good for a casual gaming rig.

Add in more ram would be a better choice and probably up the SSD to a 256gb instead.

ASRock H81M HDS + i3-4150 ~ $207
Crucial 8gb 1600mhz Value Ram ~ $90
WD Blue 1tb ~ $71
Crucial mx100 256gb ~ $154
Powercolor r7 260X 2gb Turbo Duo ~ $166
Xigmatek Tauro 400w 80+ Bronze PSU ~ $60
Xigmatek Mach Chassis ~ $65
LG DVD Drive ~ $21
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM ~ $115

Total ~ $949. Buy at tradepac. DIY

They are quite good. As in not excellent like those Grade A type of PSU. Its more for a budget oriented build PC with a little premium in it.

Thanks.

What about corsair PSU? I know they have good reputation. Used their HX620W back in the days.

I saw CX430M modular 80+ bronze selling for below $70 in the forum here. Any opinions if I am using these instead of xigmatek?

Try to avoid their CX series.

In fact, you can avoid Corsair CX, GS, TX, and RM series. Can only go for their refreshed HX series and AX series.

Back in those days the HX620W is a good PSU. Now they have refresh it to a newer HX.

Coolermaster good ones such as the V series PSU, they are made by the best PSU available in market (Seasonic). Its OEM by them.

Its cheap for its performance, gold rated, but able to pull thru platinum grade testing.

If you really wanna have top of the line PSU, you can go for this few PSU that has been rated very well for consumer grade PSU. Gold and Platinum grade psu.

Seasonic P series
Seasonic X series
Seasonic G series
Seasonic S series

Corsair HX series
Corsair AX series

FSP Aurum S series
FSP Aurum P series

Silverstone SFX strider gold (Small Form PSU)

Superflower HX series
Superflower Leadex Gold series
Superflower Leadex Platinum series

Of cause, you got to gauge yourself on what you wanna use it for. Certain things like if you are doing daily office work at home and nothing intensive, you are fine with a budget oriented PSU such as...

FSP OEM 300w
FSP Hexa 450w/500w

Seasonic S12II Bronze

Xigmatek Tauro 400w/500w/600w Bronze

This are some recommended budget oriented PSU. Of cause some whom wanna do light gaming best is to have a slight more wattage for GPU to be use with.

750ti is very power efficient that does not requires any extra power cables from the PSU. It is using the 75W power drawn from the PCIe express.

For that even a 300w FSP OEM PSU should be more than enough to run both CPU and GPU together.
