DIY Build Specs Help

Hi guys,

Going to build with a budget of 1 ~ 1.3k budget. Will be used to play games such as CS:GO, Payday 2, TERA Online, etc. May also be used for video editing & programming later on. Do not need Monitor, Mouse & Keyboard & Speakers as will be reusing from a previous computer. Would like to make it future-proof and able to be upgraded later on.

How do I improve onto this build?
I was considering between the r9 290 and r9 290x or the GTX 970, but which one is more worth it for its price point. Which of the 3 gfx should I get?

MB+processor:can change to a haswell 1245 v3 with h81m-hds for $502, but this should still be decent enough
ram: might wanna bump to 16gb for video editing
cooler:you don't really need that cooler, the stock cooler should work just fine
ssd/hdd:good enough
power supply:might wanna change that to an fsp hexa+ 550w psu for $68, that psu isn't made to last long
case: good enough
gpu:i'd recommend the r9 390 for $519, but if you can find the 290 for $389(bizgram also lists this) then would be better to get it
