Hi all!

I'm looking to build my own pc (get the guys at Sim Lim to do it for me) or buy direct from a brand (Dell/Aftershock/etc).

I need some advice on which is better, and what specs I should be looking at.

Here are some details:

Usage: mainly for gaming, streaming, and movies. I'm on my computer most of the time I am at home, so I am quite a heavy user.

I mainly play Dota 2, CSGO, Starcraft 2, and other games like Watchdogs, GTA V, Dragon Age and some other new titles. Hoping to be able to run all of these games at ultra/max/very high settings.

Budget: looking to not spend more than $2,000 on my set up, so maybe between $1,500 - $2,000?

Others: preferably the unit should come with SSD as well as be able to connect to a 5G wireless network.

I'm planning to get it this weekend or latest by one of the weekdays next week. Appreciate all your help and advice on what and where to get what I need. I'm quite a noob when it comes to the hardware stuff...

Appreciate the help!!
Thank you!!

1) State internet plan and model of router used.

2) Need monitor? Gaming on 1X monitor or on all 2X/3X monitors? If not enough budget, can game on just 1X monitor?

3) You mean 5Ghz wifi, right? 5G mobile networks currently only exists on paper.

PCT = pc theme?

Will this system be able to run Dota2, CSGo, Starcraft2 and other future games well at max settings?

Also, does it affect the performance of the PC if I do not regularly turn off my computer?

Thanks

Those games mentioned are way too easy for this gpu. You can play all sought of games and the upcoming ones.

Take note that mx100 256gb may be oos as it has not been restock for quite some time.

Can look for other alternatives such as m550 or the samsung evo.

Do take note that you can always diy yourself. It is highly recommended that you try to fix your own pc. Not just that you are able to know more about your pc. But at least when there is something wrong with it you are able to troubleshoot yourself.

This is a diy pc. Anything wrong you are on your own to troubleshoot. When you detect theres a fault in the component, you can exchange it with the distributor of whatever is faulty.

Its isnt difficult. You can try using the guide from my thread in knowledge based. Go thru step by step and you will be fine.

Thanks for the input :)

Which would you recommend in place for mx100 256gb? Would the samsung evo or m550 be better for my usage?

And yes, I have thought of building my own PC, but unfortunately cannot find the time and patience to do so! :( would much rather have someone else do it for me. Can always send for repair if got issue next time lol.

If I were to go to PCT to assemble, would that include them installing OS for me and all other software (drivers, etc) as well? Am a real noob when it comes to doing all these things. aNd how long would it take roughly?

Thanks for all the information! :D

TBH, if you dun have the time and patience for assembling, i doubt u have the time and patience for rma if needed. Do note that after 7 days from the time u purchased ur parts, u have to settle ur own rma at each distro. Shop cant entertain u and distro wun help u check for other brands that they dun carry.

I suggest u head over to youtube and sear h for diy guides. The components may b different but the method is the same. Dun learn now, u may suffer later.

agree. i suggest diy. i only started from scratch few months ago. see video and do la. the hardest or trickiest part for me was changing cpu and coolers. but after a few tries, u naturally will know what to do. if don't want diy, getting individual components may not be suitable for ts.

Distro = distributor.

RMA means Return merchandise authorisation, basically it means if anything happen, you have to go to distro to service it, be it 1-for-1 exchange or send back to manufacturer for replacement which may take up to 1 month.

If u r so scared of DIY, i highly recommend u waste $$ getting branded bah. At least with a call, they can come down to check ur com.

do take note of those brands with good aftersales, like Dell. there are others not so good, particularly one brand stands out. They make good mobos though.
