has been a while since I bought a new system... so quite lost touch...
any comments for the rig below?

CPU: Aiming for i5 4690 - not planning to overclock
Graphics: Zotac GTX760 2 GB AMP - mid-range? upgrade as and when necessary.. the 900 series is way beyond my budget
RAM: Kingston 4 GB x 2
SSD: Silicon Power 240GB or Samsung EVO 250GB

Any recommendation for casing, motherboard, PSU?

Budget of 1.2k for now...

i5 4460 +asrock h81 -292
crucial 8gb ram -96
WD 1tb blue -68
crucial mx100 256gb ssd - 152
palit gtx 970 jetstream - 449 (lazada mastercard promo today)
fsp hexa 80+ 550w ~68
random casing 50~

total 1176

all execpt gpu from trade pac, haggle for further discounts

just wanna point out the 4690 and 4460 has a difference of around $70 in price, but its performance in games is almost negligible, 0.5-1fps. use that money towards other components, possibly a palit 970 :)

Gosh.. I didn't know that!!

So I could just go for 4460? I chose 4690 because I thought higher number = better...

I have the lazada $50 voucher and mastercard - so with the savings, I think i could go for Palit 970.. :)
I see Zotac also being marketed aggressively... any diff Palit vs Zotac?

and thank u so much!

zotac is alright too. There's a 10 dollar diff just choose whichever you prefer. Yes 4460 is more than enough :)

To everyone who posts mid tier cards like 760, I'll always recommend u save for abit longer to cough up that extra 200 bucks for a 970 because it's so worth it.

Like Linus said before, it might be wiser to save a little and spend a little more to get a much better experience.

Just my 2 cents worth

Haha they aren't my shop, I even mildly dislike the owners a little but their prices are competitive and can be bargained with some effort. :)

Yes exactly. But also must be wary of diminishing returns as well. I.e there comes a point where the more you spend the less performance you get.

Which is why 970 ftw, unless u go to the point where 970 2 way is not good enough, then go for 980 2 way

I think I read this somewhere before, that the top tier cards are always the best performer but the second best cards are always the most value oriented
