Hi Guys,

Want to share my plans for my first build. Gonna use it for gaming and maybe some light video editing and photoshop.

Any comments/advice?

Going to get stuff from Amazon, SLS and Lazada.sg.

Mobo/CPU: ASUS H97 Pro Gamer with i5-4690 ~$466
RAM: Corsair Vengence 1600 16GB ~$198.9 (bought on Amazon)
SSD: Samsung 850PRO 256GB ~$221 (bought on Amazon)
Extra Storage: Western Digital 1 TB SATA III Black ~$97
Case: Thermaltake CHASER A31 Casing ~$99
GPU: Palit Jetstream GTX 970 ~$500
Optical drive: Asus Black 12X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM ~$75
PSU: Seasonic G series 650W ~$147

Total: ~$1800

Will be better to get Mobo/CPU + Case + PSU from SLS and try to get a good discount right?

GPU probably wait for Lazada Monday mastercard deal.

Thanks in advance!

Actually you could have bought all the parts in SLS. It seems like you have bought rams that are not very cheap and could have gotten a product lifetime warranty for sg rams.

Apart from that, SSD is fine.

If you are just using Bluray for watching movies, then forget about it, unless you have the necessary components to play direct bluray to decode out DTS HD MA or Dolby TrueHD.

Swap the internal HDD from black to blue. Since you already gotten yourself a SSD.

Swap out the PSU to Seasonic X650 or Superflower HX600.

Superflower HX600 from lazada.sg is cheaper at $98 after mastercard discount.

Although you dont really need a 600w psu.

Thanks for the advice Roy!

Ya 650W is abit of an overkill, i'll probably settle for superflower HX600.

The bluray function is just a 'in case' thing to have if ever I need to read a bluray. Definitely not going to use the pc to watch Bluray disc.

The WD black does seems abit overpriced and true i do not need that kind of speed with a SSD in place, something to consider, but most probably will just go Blue or the Seagate Barracuda.

Thanks again!

On a side note you dont need a bluray drive to read bluray.

You can use tools for ISO mounts. Not unless you really wanna read only physical bluray disc.
