Hi guys, can I check between the MSI B85-G41 PC Mate and ASRock B85M Pro4, which is a better pick?

Processor wise, i am considering the i5 4690 or if possible, the i7 4770. :s13:

As i will be reusing parts from --->, i will just go for the bare minimum needed. Can also include a stick of 8GB RAM too? :s22:

I am using it for photo editing with photoshop, lightroom etc. Workflow will include high resolution panoramas and at times, multi-layer exposure blending too.

If you have any better recommendations, please do let me know.

Thanks for your input. :)

My recommendation is not to change mobo and cpu but add in extra 8gb of ram.

There will be almost no performance improvement (less than 1%) if you change to a 4th gen cpu.

Are you willing to pay for it?

Well I'm rma-ing my msi z68a gd55 g3 so if you don't mind, I can sell that to you.

If you are insisting on a new one, I bought an asrock z77 extreme 4 at pc theme for 188. U can try your luck.

Nope. It only supports the chip, not OC.
ok thanks, then i check out the z77 ones, see if they are available.

as much as i wanna upgrade to the newer haswell, the performance gain isnt really significant.

i am holding on to this rig until i migrate to a 5k imac, which means spending the minimum is the best solution for now. :s22:

Ram (name of the guy from Avertek), has a brand new Asrock Fatality for sale with 3 years warranty at 202. You might wanna just call Avertek up and ask if they have a z77 board for sale.

Anyway that Fatality board is pretty rock solid in terms of OC and etc.

Apparently there are still certain Z77 boards on price lists of many shops. Why not you make a call to those stores to check stock availability lest making a futile trip down should they ran OOS?

Tradepac: MSI Z77A-GD65
PC Themes: ASRock Z77 Extreme4
