only can place 4 hdd le

Thought your specs is
hdd: Plextor m5p 128gb for OS, 4 X 3TB WD RED for raid 5

Just nice the case can fit 4x 3.5" + 1x 2.5"

The top 5.25" bays still can fit a few HDDs.

Alu cases have better thermal than steel metal case.

I am currently using an
AMD X4 640 with 8GB RAM.
Storage wise I am using
1) 750GB HDD for OS
2) Highpoint RocketRaid 2300 with 4 x 2TB HDD on Raid 5 (6TB).
3) 3TB HDD for temporary storage before moving to Raid 5.

I use a PC because
1) I use it to climb Bukit Timah hill
2) Serve webpages
3) Run Teamspeak
4) Run mumble
5) Run FTP

apologise for not updating, i decided to use a hdd for OS because others have adviced that ssd offers no performance.

i was wondering what is this ZFS thing, seems like many people recommend it for home servers.

ZFS is a file system.
Windows uses NTFS.

If you go the ZFS route, you will be using one of the linux flavours which imo is not really for the novice. Most people I read on Hardforum just use Windows Home server 2011.

IMO, just KISS. Use what you know, save you the trouble. Windows no matter what flavour you are using is more or less the same interface wise.

I use PLEX ( Plex - A Complete Media Solution ) to stream videos to my Samsung and LG Smart TV. Easy easy japanesy.
