Hi, so I'm thinking of getting this setup.

I don't mind hitting about $1500-1600 to get a decent rig, but I'll need some feedback if some of these parts have a better and more worthwhile counterpart.

I do video-editing softwares, and gaming in future.

Let me know if any parts should be swapped out if necessary.

Also, are there any casing which sort of reduce the noise and is not too big?

Planned setup:

[MOBO+CPU] MSI B85M-G43+ i5 4590
[GPU] MSI GTX 750 TI 2GB GAMING O.C
[RAM] CORSAIR VENGEANCE 1600MHZ (4GB x2) CL9
[SDD] CRUCIAL MX100 256GB SATA3
[HDD] WESTERN.D 1TB BLUE 64MB SATA3
[DVD-RW] SAMSUNG 24x DVD-RW SATA
[CASING] FRACTAL DESIGN ARC MINI R2 WIN
[PSU] SF HX 600w GOLD
[OS] WINDOWS 8 HOME PREM 64BIT
[MONITOR] DELL 23" S2340L

Thank you. :)

What kind of gaming? If its high end, u shld get 970 instead of 750ti.

If possible, go for bigger ssd. At least 240gb/256gb.

Dun use the CX500w, it is crappy. At least seasonic G series, superflower hx500w/600w, FSP Hexa.

Might look into playing AAA games in future.

I use software like Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro etc..

Need some advice on current setup provided in 1st post and what else could be changed to fit usage better.

Thank you.

CPU+ Mobo: ASROCK H81M-HDS + i5 4690 (387)
RAM: G.SKILL PC 12800/1600MHZ DDR3 CL11 VALUE RAM (8GB) (97)
GPU: SAPPHIRE R9 280 DUAL-X (285) (Lazada.com)
SSD: SAMSUNG EVO 850 120GB (138)
HDD: WD 1TB BLUE (75)
DVD-RW: SAMSUNG 24X DVD-RW SATA OEM (25)
PSU: SUPERFLOWER HX600 (109)
Case: CM SILENCIO 452 (99)
OS: WINDOWS 7 HOME PREM (130)
Monitor: DELL S2340L (229)

Total cost: $1574

Unless otherwise stated, buy at PC Themes, #04-15, and ask for discounts. DIY yourself. If you can't into DIY, get PC Themes to assemble for you for a fee.

Notes:

1) As your Adobe suite is incapable of effectively utilising hyperthreading for major performance gains, the fastest i5 CPU, the i5 4690, is used in this system instead.

2) Due to lack of budget, the Sapphire R9 280 Dual-X is included in the rig. This GPU is capable of playing most AAA games at high settings in 1080p.

3) A Samsung Evo 850 is included as the fast write/read speeds of this SSD enables you to be able to save/open large media files faster and helping to reduce production time.

4) The CM Silencio 452 is chosen as it is a relatively cheap casing that comes with sound absorbing foam for aid in noise reduction.

5) You may want to add another stick of 8GB RAM in the future as 8GB of RAMs may be insufficient for video-editing work.

6) Windows 7 Home Premium is suggested as the GUI of Windows 8 in vastly different from older Windows OSes and you may not be able to get used to it. If you do not mind this, Windows 8 will only cost $3 more.

7) Got Mastercard? Consider getting the GPU from Lazada.com on a Monday and get 10% discounts when you pay with a Mastercard. Do note that discounts are capped at a maximum of $25 per transaction.

Thank you for your detailed breakdown @ Alternative X.

May I know why Sapphire R9 280 is used instead of GTX 750 Ti?

R9 280 is at least 1-2 tiers higher than 750Ti and its pricing is just slightly more ex than 750Ti which makes it more ideal and value worth to get.

U can check reviews of r9 280 vs 750Ti for high end gaming and you can see the difference in fps...

Isn't 285 better?

But the pricing isnt that good and performance isnt that far frm 280...

If ur router is N-connection, then can consider TP Link Wireless-N usb adaptor, around $35-40.

If your router is AC-connection, can consider TP Link archer T4UH or asus USB-AC53 @$99..

By the way, how do I check which connection type my router is?

Try getting the Samsung 840 pro 128gb @ $139 (tradepac) instead of the 850 evo. Consider Crucial mx 100 128gb @ $104 or 256gb @ $152 (tradepac) unless u prefer Samsung ssd.
