DIY PC Parts recommendation

Hi all,
I intending to build a new pc ...last diy pic is like 5 years ago.
I am not really familiar with the latest and latest right now ...and what brand of parts to go ...
Can offer me some help?

I want to build a pc for photo editing (raw file is 50 Mb) and video editing (4K). My budget is 2k if possible.

I don't do much video editing so if rendering is slower a it to fit into the budget ...it is fine with me as well.

I do some light gaming.

Of the top of my mind

CPU : i5 or i7 ? Sky lake or kraby lake
MB : any recommendation ? Is m.2 port a must nowadays?
Ram : 16 gb or shld I go 32 gb ? Fastest is ddr4 right
Video card : 1070 ? Or do I need higher ? What models good?
Hdd: ssd + hdd .. again which brand is good (fast read write and reliable )

How much space allocated for the pc? (to determine which kind of tower you would be getting)

I would prefer ITX casing but my experience is small means additional premium .. Harder to get mobo with 4 ram slots or two video card slot etc not to mention heat can be an issue.. Harder to find small size graphic card as well.

I am fine with standard Atx case. I would put it on the floor. I usually get those lian li case .. Looks as long as not ugly can liao. Ventilation to me is more impt haha.

As for WiFi .. If mobo has WiFi then ok. If no WiFi on mobo then I will just grab a net work card

For itx it's not really that bad these days. Fractal design node 202 is one of the best itx now imo. The components are segregated, gpu compartment can house most of the 2 slots full sized cards, can add 2 more fans to cool it down as well while maintaining positive air pressure on the chassis.

The limitations are the ability to overclock as thermal dissipation definitely not as good as full towers. It's also more expensive to get sfx stuff and the limitation of 2 ram slots only but a 2x16gb can go a long way.

Anyway, you haven't answer whether will you want to overclock your system? As that would affect the cost and components to be gotten.

I am not over clocking. My experience with ITX is that when I play game it get heated up haha .. Was using Lian li ITX case .

I will check your recommendation up.

If you get k processor you will need to get the z mobo that can overclock the processor. This will further make the rig more expensive. Whats more you must learn how to play with overclocking to increase your pc performance I say forget it just get a non-k non overclocking build. Save the trouble.

Overclocking can increase couple more FPS difference not worth the trouble unless you are really hard core want to squeeze and want the best performance for your pc. Then go ahead and learn how to overclock and get a K processor with z mobo build to play around with. Can follow youtube guide or follow guide all around the internet on how to overclock your K processor.

Oh did not saw your previous post. If you are not overclocking don't need get K processor as it is an unlock processor for overclocking. Ii mean no point getting an unlock processor if you aren't overclocking right?

Get k processor would incur a lot more cost. Firstly, Z series mobo, then need extra Cpu cooler as unlock core don't come with stock fan, then psu need 750w for this setup. Ram up to you whether wanna get higher hz ones for oc as it's the least gain from oc compared to processor and gpu.

So can I say even if I don't get the z board I get 0.6 ghz extra?
