Would you have recommendations on what to get if the budget is below $3k? Looking to get something that can also allow me to play triple A titles moving forward.
the 9070xt build as mentioned by tk is good enough, as faster cards like the 5080 are significantly more expensive for marginal returns in raster. but if u wish to turn on all the eye candy like path tracing, then u will want to get at least a 5070ti build.
Is the recommendations on the first post still valid or are there better options to look at now?
havent updated it in a while, u cant get the 4080s nowadays.
Hi, does anyone have any experience with buying Boxed AMD CPU from Taobao? Specifically the ones with CBX product code at the end.

I’ve been trying to research and some say it’s covered by international warranty, Some say it’s only within China.
the international warranty only covers units bought from western online etailers, china indeed has its own warranty coverage. once chatted with a carou seller who tried to claim with amd sg (which have no issue processing units bought from amz) for a cpu bought from taobao and was redirected to amd china instead. but i wouldnt worry about it, cpus generally wont need warranty and even if it does, it is very cheap (<$10) to ship it back to claim.
i got recommendations from a shop for around this price range, almost everything is the same except for these 2 items.
option1:
CPU - ryzen 7 7700
PSU - THERMALRIGHT 850W GOLD RATED PSU / ATX 3.0 / PCIE GEN 5

option2:
CPU - RYZEN 7 7800X3D
PSU - Superflower LEADEX VI Platinum PRO 850W Full Modular - PCIe 5.1 (BK)

option 2 is $400 more expensive, i'm wondering if there's a need to get the ryzen 7 7800x3d or if there are recommendations of a more worthwhile option? GPU for both is RTX 5070TI ZOTAC SOLID OC.
triple a games are generally quite gpu intensive, and if ur monitor is qhd or higher then the benefit from the 78x3d upgrade will be felt less. the psu is better with the 78x3d option though. i hope u arent paying close to 3k with either option however, 3k should be able to net u a 5080 build.
But I heard if there is no corbell sticker on the Mobo mean no warranty? Is it true? The shop told me got 3 yrs warranty.
can call corbell and check if ur mobo serial number under their warranty.
Does MSI provide repair or replacement?
typically is replacement.

my monitor is kinda basic, highest resolution is only at 1080. with the 2nd option, I was quoted $3.4k which to me is out of my budget. I was wondering if instead of the 9070xt, what about the 5070 and not the 5070ti. Would prefer a nvidia card instead of an AMD one. And as for the cpu, contemplating between the 7900x and 7800x3d.

it's this shop called supersystems. my friend bought her pc from them and told me it's not bad so i went to them. i'm not sure if like the psu and other parts of the pc affects the price a lot, but i do know the cpu and gpu are probably the most expensive items. the PC case in their quote is from deepcool CG530 4f, 7800x3d with 5070ti, 2x16ram, b850 asrock motherboard, 1tb ssd, liquid cooling and psu is $3.3k.

just doing a quick random search using the same cpu and gpu pairings on aftershock, does this mean that aftershock is cheaper than invader pc or it's the other parts that's adding on to the price difference and aftershock is not actually cheaper per se?

yeah i think diy-ing would be cheaper than getting it prebuilt if i get the parts on my own, but the thing is i don't know anything about all these so my best bet would be to buy prebuilt. aside from cpu and gpu, the others like psu, ram and other parts i have no idea what to look out for or to choose from. hopefully the experts here can tell me which one might be better, aftershock or invader pc.

Invader PC.

Mainly because all parts are consumer off the shelf products so you know exactly the performance and longevity of the part. Dynacore is their storefront in sim lim. You could probably also approach/Whatsapp them to custom swap out parts from the pre-built.

Aftershock and Armageddon like to swap out parts with their own OEM parts probably because it's cheaper like for example, CPU cooler. Performance and quality is a huge ?

Actually if u totally dun have existing PC prebuilt cheaper ba
I was recently schooled that diy is generally more expensive because u will be looking for good quality parts instead of the shops outside thats bundling together parts nobody wants haha

But i like to diy cheap parts 😂

oh invader pc allows you to swap out parts from their pre-built options? i actually only want to choose my own pc case, cpu, gpu and want liquid cooler. the rest of the parts since i don't know much about it i'm okay with the pre-built options. maybe i can message them instead.

i agree, because you'll want to get something better. i'll probably go get pre-built, but i want to be able to customise some options. plus i won't even know what's good and what's not.

You're supposed to pick your base part like gpu from the list of pre builds. Ideally, with your cpu. Only if they do not have your cpu in the pre builds, can u choose to upgrade CPU etc. in fact the pre build page itself should allow u to pick your preferred case and CPU cooler.

Msg them if it's not there though.

Oh I’ve decided to go for the 5070 instead and going for the 7800X3D. My current monitor is 1080p and refresh rate is at 100hz. Not sure if I would be upgrading my monitor in future but right now it’s pretty new so I’ll stick to it.

What motherboard would you recommend if not asrock for the 7800x3d?
Literally any brand aside from ASRock. To be safe, skip Asus too.

Honestly, I would just skip x3d chips for now and upgrade to it in the future when ASRock/Asus solves the issues bios.

hi @NightRaven49, I bought the XPG Core Reactor II VE 850w as XPG Core Reactor II was OOS everywhere.
After I went to read up the reviews, I realized that the VE used Taiwan capacitors and lower end components compared to the non VE version.

Does it impact the performance much or should I change to another PSU?

dont think u have to be too worried. non japanese caps have not been a huge concern for years now, with the cut down components it should just be an ok psu. it still offers the most important protections, and performance should not be affected, so there is no need to change to a better psu.
