Hi! Chanced upon this post and wanted to ask for opinions on my next build.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
GPU: AMD RX6700XT / 6750XT (whichever price is lower)
Mobo: B550 Motherboard (no particular favour in brands, whichever is cheaper as well)
Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin
Cooler: Lian Li SL120 Uni Fans
RAM: Additional 8x2GB 3200MHZ ram kit from G.Skill (adding on to my current 8x2 3200mh from gskill)
Case: Lian Li O11 Dynamic

Will be using back the same PSU and SSDs from my current build.

Also, what do you think of the Tecware VXL casing from them? Had a tough time choosing between the Lian Li O11 Dynamic against the Tecware VXL however unsure if the airflow in the VXL will be good as compared to the O11

Actually No.2 has better psu. The No.1 ROG atrix power supply modular is better with 10yrs warranty to silverstone non modular 3yrs warranty. But yes No.2 more better as gpu upgrade alone is worth the extra. Its 3060ti Tuf gaming model which is more ex with better cooler.

tang_tang

I see these are from invader website? I just got a PC from them (see my posts above) You can msg them to customize if you want. I do suggest the rog atrix psu(10yrs warranty) which I got which is tier A. If not its still fine as the silverstone is still tier B on the psu cultist list. Just do not like that its non modular and only 3 yrs warranty which is short for gold rated supply.

What are your thoughts on buying used graphics cards on Carousell? The prices are sometimes very attractive, some selling RX6600XT for like below $200 with warranty (and claims that they did not use it for mining). Are these too good to be true, since some of the listings have yet to be "sold" for over a month even with such prices.
if they are just regular gddr6 cards, i dont see any reason to worry about mined cards. those 6600xts were almost definitely used for mining given the price and availability, but since they came out quite late they were mined on for a year at most before eth moved to pos so they should still have a lot of life left in them. if the price is right to u then no reason to pass on them, especially if they have warranty; i personally have bought an ex mining 6600xt (along with another forum member's friends), no issues and even found healthy oc/uv headroom.

do list the prices too. looks good in general, though u forgot ram; do get fast tight (and preferably expo) ram, the closer to 6000mhz cl30 the better. only thing is that u might not need a 750w psu, maybe cut down to a 650w with 10y warranty (superflower only offers 5y). imo the legion gx pro only makes sense up to 650w, other than the 5y warranty higher wattage models have fixed sata cables too which can be unsightly.

wouldve suggested expanding ur budget to get latest gen as am4 is as good as eol, but since the focus is on saving money (judging from getting the cheapest mobo/gpu and reusing ddr4), it is not a bad option. mobo wise, the asrock b550m/ac is the bare minimum imo, u can find the phantom gaming model for cheaper but it is very barebones. 67X0xt is a good choice, though stock seems very scarce locally, might have to dig a few stores to find for a decent price (<$600 for 6700xt, <$650 for 6750xt). if u do find any and are unsure of price, can post back here again to check too :) also for the cooler, u will have to get the se variant as the o11d only supports up to 155mm air coolers while the non se which has been getting the attention of late is 157mm.
Also, what do you think of the Tecware VXL casing from them? Had a tough time choosing between the Lian Li O11 Dynamic against the Tecware VXL however unsure if the airflow in the VXL will be good as compared to the O11
the placement and sizes of the fan mounts look quite similar, though the vxl does not appear to have dust filters. im also unsure of the build quality of the vxl, as tecware does not have a good track record in this department in my experience. if ur getting a matx mobo then the vxm is a more compelling option, if u can find it.

kinda depends on which shooting games u play, the more popular ones like csgo and valorant are generally not very graphically intensive, though bigger releases like halo infinite or cod can be more demanding and can benefit from the higher performance of the 3060ti. if ur games are of the easier to run variety, then the first option is the better pick, as u probably wont notice the difference when either card can push hundreds of fps (so the premium on the 2nd build is wasted) and the psu is of a much higher quality. the 2nd option is okay if ur games are harder to run, though im a bit skeptical of getting an 8gb card in a build that costs well over $1k.

1) is this a good ram timing to pair with the 7800x3d on a B650 mobo? pricing wise also ok?

2) i googled the spec sheet of the mobo. the gigabyte B650 aorus pro ax board. it says it support up to 6666mhz timing ram. So if i get a 6400mhz with CL32 timings. will that perform better than this 6000mhz CL 30 ram?

Durability:
Will this MSI mobo likely last >15% longer than this ASUS mobo? Or no difference?

Set-up:
i5-13400F (stock power settings) + RX 6950 XT

on paper yes but pc parts u wont know for sure... there is no 100%
Can you explain why "Yes"?

Coz my understanding is that the 65W i5 is low power, so practically won't stress either mobo i.e. both should last as long as each other. Is it coz the hot GPU will stress the mobos more than the CPU? Is it coz the MSI has a better PCB than the ASUS? Or maybe not, coz both are 6 layers? Is it coz the MSI has higher quality VRMs, which are supposed to last longer?

I don't know how to determine mobo longevity & how to get the best bang-for-buck for a low-power i5 at Intel stock power settings. Don't wanna spend extra $$$ when it makes no difference.

Hi all, looking to replace my current 6 yr old setup with GTX 1080 because it stutters when playing Diablo 4. Looking to game at 1440p for games like D4, and past AA games like Cyberpunk, Horizon Zero Dawn, Red Dead Redemption 2, etc. My budget is ~$2k and I don't need a monitor.

Used to DIY all my setups but don't have so much time anymore so will be looking to buy something assembled. Would like to use the setup for the next 5 years so thought of getting GTX 4070 for the 12gb.

Saw the below going for $1,465. Is it ok for the price?
- AMD RYZEN 5 5600X 3.7GHz 6CORE/12THREAD
- ASUS PRIME B550M-A WIFI II AX ARGB
- COOLER MASTER HYPER 212 HALO
- KINGSTON FURY BEAST RGB 3600MHz 16GB(8GBx2) CL17
- ASUS DUAL RTX4070 12GB GDDR6X
- CRUCIAL P3 PLUS 1TB PCIe GEN4 NVMe M.2
- SILVERSTONE ET750 750W 80+ GOLD
- COOLER MASTER CMP 320 CASING (3 ARGB FANS)

Some questions I have:
1. Will also look to add in CRUCIAL P3 PLUS 2TB 5000MB/S NVME GEN4 M.2 for $184 for storage. Is this reasonable?
2. Is 5600X good enough or should I upgrade to 5700x
3. Better to get 4070 or 4060TI?
4. PSU of 750W high enough?

Thanks!

cannot.remember

For invader you can customise parts like I did. Price is good with a 4070.

1. I suggest you get a fast 1tb gen4 drive as system drive and 1 or 2tb gen 3 drive for storage. as your mobo got 1 gen4 and 1 gen3 m.2 slot. I got Adata 850 for system drive mainly for heat sink and it matches my mobo well. I will say get 1 tb wd black sn770 for system drive and get the wd blue sn570 as storage. For me the Adata for my system drive cost $75 and the 2tb wd sn570 cost $155

2. 5600x is good enough for gaming. Unless you want to do multitask like doing video editing or streaming in the background then get more cores cpu. Then uou will need to upgrade the ram to 32gb also.

3. 4070 for sure if you have the budget. 4060 and 4060ti not worth it( just google and you know the reason). For me I have lower budget of $1200 so I chose 3060ti. Would have liked the 4070.

4. Yes 750w is enough as 4070 power draw is about the same as my 3060ti. Even 650w will be enough but I kiasu and have a 100w buffer when I choose my psu. I also like to spend more on good psu so I got the more atas rog atrix 750 with 10years warranty. The SILVERSTONE ET750 750W 80+ GOLD not bad but non modular so more clutter and only 3 yrs warranty.

actually is it worth considering used/2nd hand pc? recently saw a few good pricing rig on carousell, with many of them being 'regret buys' from aftershock being lightly new or 1 year or less old.

is x570 gaming X a good motherboard?

From what I see from carousell especially those from aftershock is priced high. If you compare the prices now at the ready to ship PC they have, its better to get a new system. But from my research invader seems to have the best price. Even the carousell sellers cant match the price for my parts. They dun even believe me when I them the qouted price. I also thought they qouted wrongly as if l add up the prices in their latest pricelist at dynacore the price is like $300 cheaper.

Yes that price too good. The cheapest 3070 msi ventus 2x already $550 at mansa. I guess price should be similar at invader. 3070 price even lower than my tuf gaming 3060ti. But tuf gaming model is a higher end model with better cooler. Should have ask if upgrade to 3070 how much. If the same I might get 3070. The 3060ti do have gddr6x compared to 3070 gddr6. But not sure how that coverts to preformance difference.
