a bit not worth for me leh.. i think 4.4k can give u at least a 4080 ba
Well back then in early Jan, I can get a 4080 if I were to make compromises on the following components. End of the day, I decided to stick with the initial components for aesthetic and future proofing.
Possible compromises:
• Case: Avoid the O11 D Evo case and maybe choose the LanCool III as it comes with many fans. Only worry is the spacing between the GPU cable against the side panel.
(Save about $280?)

• Mobo: Go for Asus X670E Prime
(Save about $100?)

• CPU: Go for R7-7700
(Save about $150?)

• PSU: Go for ATX3.0 1000W PSU
(save about $80?)

EDIT:
Still BSOD without ramdisk, pretty random at this point.
Win10 repair install still same error without ramdisk.

Mind listing down your PC specs?
Quite complex problem. BSOD are hard to solve at times.
But mine is due to ram modules /mobo aging., i presume.
my very old system (> 10 years) survived at least about 10+ blackouts due to house power trip.
I had since retire the system. RIP.
Now using hands me down DDR3 mobo from my friend, it is old model but very new as he never use before.
But I am looking to get a new DDR4 system.

But anyway, you mention your system is 10+ years, probably time to RIP the system.
That's what I will do. No point fretting over complex BSOD issues as since you had done quite a lot of troubleshooting.
PC components aged. When it is time to go, let it go.

Would like to get feedback from folks here regarding ADATA ram modules?
I heard got many compatible issues with mobos and XMP can't work.
Means your mobo BIOS set XMP, but system cannot boot so have to run at slower default base speed.
Which defeat the purpose of getting 3600 (for DDR4)

Do shops like Techdeals, Tradepac, Dynacore, etc. help you to build your PC when you buy parts from them? If so, what's the assembling fee like? Or do they only sell stuff without building the PCs?

I recall years ago they charged 30 bucks if you didn't buy the main parts from them, but if you did, it is FOC. You wait around 30min to an hour.

Tried a Win10 repair install but failed.

how about a full wipe and clean install of windows with their media installation tool? not just repair.

used a new z1 kit once on a friend's build about 3 years ago, no complaints. had another friend who ran into problems with a used d50 kit (can post and get into ubuntu but not windows) though he got it rma-ed.

can double check with the shop. i would expect local stock to support out of the box by now though, and most shops should be gracious enough to do it if u ask.
I went and asked, shop guy say already support CPU out of box.
I see the sticker on the mobo already the supported BIO ver.
(For B550m/ac there is a tiny sticker bottom left of the left most RAM slot)
Buy back fixed and it works.
how about a full wipe and clean install of windows with their media installation tool? not just repair.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Decided to spend to modernize my PC.

My 2nd big PC shakeup.
Had a taste of changing mobo with old boot drive.
Thought will have issues but nothing much happened, just a longer boot then install drivers.
My old edu Win 7 to 8 to 10 license seem to have run out of use so I bought an 11 license.
Then settle to do full wipe and install 11.
Running fine now.

Bros who went with RX 7900XT... any issues with the new drivers? I was going for it in my new build until I saw a bunch of articles about driver issues. Not sure if should just stick to Nvidia 4070Ti.

So it's been a while, so time to buy a new "budget" rig for my wife and daughter usage:

Now which brand do you recommend:
CPU & MB: ?
Memory: ?
Storage: ?
PSU: ?
I am looking for small casing

What brand should I avoid?

what kind of driver issues did u specifically read about? if u are referring to things like high idle power draw those have already been fixed.
Now which brand do you recommend:
for most parts except psu, best to look up which specific model offers the best value for money. everyone has different experiences with each brand and u will end up with contradictory advice with this kind of question. even good psu brands can give problem.

anyway, u can refer to the cheapest rig suggested in op, good enough for general use (surfing web, watching video).

up to u whether u value the nitty gritty like colour calibration and response times. if u just want a monitor they work, but they are cheap for a reason.

Finally upgraded liao....ditch my old DDR3 system running Athlon II X3 440....legacy.

I stick to Asus TUF A520M PLUS WIFI + AMD R5 5600G (strongly recommend by Nightraven Bro).....this mobo and other MATX mobo was OOS since end last year. The shop recently restock, so go get immediately.
The mobo sticker state MFG is Jan 2023.
RAM is 8GB x 2 Crucial Ballistix 3200 from Amazon SG.
No GPU card and inside mATX.

Everything working fine.

However a bit concern on the cores temp. Using stock cooler.

I am intending to use Lian Li Lancool 216 casing. Other than the 3 fans that come with the casing, I intend to get a 3-pack Cooler Master Sickleflow 120 ARGB. So do I need a ARGB module? Or the Mobo/casing can handle it? Thanks

Overall the reading is good, are you using Ryzen Eco mode currently?

My bad...I was running a small game (a simple game in armor games dot com) when i took that screen shot.

on idle mode, 36-40+ Celsius there about.

Although simple game, it taxed my old processor and the game lag badly.
Only now I upgraded to 5600G, the game was fast with every click. Nice. Should have done the upgrade earlier.

btw, I googled and eco mode looks like more applicable to 7000 series cpu.

Think I don't wish to do too much tinkering with BIOS and stuffs. If it gets too hot, I just remove the side panel...lol.

Icic, no worry.

Eco mode is not specific to 7000 series as 5000 series also can benefits from using it.

basically for your specific 5600G it will reduce the power to 45w and the characteristic was to maintain the single core boost as necessary when needed, but will suppress the multicore boost.

this will benefits with your stock cooler since you can still perform daily task as necessary if you seldom utilized the multicore boosting usage example handbrake encoding.

i think its worth a try and can be disabled anytime if you feel not enough power.

Hi! Posted a thread last year to ask for advice on upgrading my PC, but didn't went about doing it due to waiting for prices to drop.

My PC is currently in dying status, so looking for advice again. Already lasted me at least 5 years.

Current rig specs:
CPU: Intel i5 7600
Mobo: ASRock H270 Pro4
GPU: MSI 1080 (Aiming for 3K series)
Power: Seasonic 660w 80 Gold X series
Cooler: Water cooler (can't remember brand)
Ram: 2x8gb Klevv
Casing: Phantek (Can't remember model, quite old)
HDD: 1x 120GB SSD, 1x 500GB SSD (like to reuse)

Will be using my PC for gaming mainly (in 1080p). No need for monitors (am using 2 monitors). Hopefully next rig can last as long. Budget about $2000. Can be abit more if needed.

Also looking to get a PC for my wife, so also looking for advice from bros here too. She doesn't game much, so am thinking of reusing the 1080 and the PSU for her rig.

Actually the CPU core temps runs high when I run a certain game.
I had open a thread in HWC.
Really regret using the stock cooler. Double job. Have to remove the original black socket clips and then put in the stock cooler which imho not as easy as it looks. It looks easy on those youtube videos, but in reality not easy as need to screw down 4 screws evenly. Took me almost 45 mins.

Guess after all these years, AMD still give out lousy coolers. Last time AM2+ /AM3 time, I never use their stock cooler. Prefer cooler master hyper 101 or deepcool replica.
