Hi Guys, looking for opinions from expert builders.
I've a dead pc built in 2018:

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (14nm) 3.2 GHz 6-Core Processor
ASRock AB350M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard
ADATA XPG GAMMIX D10 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4-3000 CL16 Memory
Seagate BarraCuda 1 TB 3.5" 7200 RPM Internal Hard Drive
Samsung 860 Evo 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Zotac AMP GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6 GB Video Card
Fractal Design Focus G Mini MicroATX Mini Tower Case
EVGA 650 BQ 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply

I want to get back into some gaming, but i mainly only play games like factorio, minecraft and Forza motorsport 5.

Is there anything i can salvage from the above pc other than the case to upgrade to today's midrange gaming standard or i should just buy a pre-built one from Invader?

My biggest fear is the BIOS setup and installing Windows, the pc dies after a while and couldn't boot a few years back.

Budget for pre-built is around $1.5-1.6K which i'm looking at something like the MASTER M36 from Invader and would expect it to last for 3-4 years at least.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

other than the storage drives and maybe the case, it would be fairly difficult to salvage most of the parts especially if the dead part has not been diagnosed. the midrange suggestion in the 1st post is an an entirely different socket anyway, so nothing much that can be salvaged.

so far thats one of the better deals.

better multicore performance for lower power consumption.

should be fine, the versions match for both the international and chinese websites. ive also flashed msi boards ive gotten from taobao with international bios without issue.

every time i go sls there would be people doing just that, so i would assume so, else they would have close shop long time ago.

the ncase m2 is about 15l, i wouldnt consider it sff especially when similarly sized matx cases can be had for much cheaper, along with saving on mobo and psu costs.

if ur already spending this much on a 78x3d + 5070ti, u might as well go all the way and get better quality versions of these parts, especially the psu. the ram isnt a huge concern as x3d doesnt need high speed memory to do well, but good cl30 kits arent much more expensive. i would suggest u also consider having a good 1tb nvme as os drive, the p3 plus is only really good as a storage drive.

Thanks for your expert advice as always NightRaven. Can I check what would you mean by better quality versions of the other parts please?

I really like how the NCase M2 look but am wary of the additional costs involved with it. Was also considering the fractal terra but was put off with the high thermals for it.

ram - kits with tighter memory timings, closer to cl30 or less. but as mentioned previously not a huge concern for x3d
psu - a unit that has been properly evaluated (ie reviewed) to show good voltage characteristics, ensuring the lifespan of ur parts. good units usually have a long warranty (~10y)
ssd - tlc drive with a fast and reliable controller, ideally with dram cache
some examples are in the first post midrange reco and above.

personally i would go for something like this case i got off taobao recently, the shiny snake g300:
O1CN011DjxNy26vBni4pPxP_!!2214261437723.jpg

dimensions wise (34.5 * 26 * 18.8 cm) it is very comparable to the ncase m2 (36.6 * 25.8 * 16.6 cm), but has compatibility for cheaper (not worse) matx mobos and atx psus. no doubt the m2 build quality is top notch, but this case all in with shipping and gst was only like s$75.

am trying to get new monitor. my setup is pretty old. but planning to change to new rig soon. is it ok to buy new monitor first before the new rig? or better to take into account what's the new rig spec is going to be like first?

not into gaming now... so mostly work, specifically more development work. thinking to get like 2K IPS 27" should be good enough. do I need to care about usb-c? am not using mac. not looking for high end spec.. something along 200-ish? or is there other things I should consider? or could just get something cheaper?
