hi all,

I am interested to DIY a rig with two monitors and below $2000 (if possible). If really need to increase, i can go up to $2500. Anything to watch out for if going for two monitors? I am most probably buying from PC themes as suggested by the bros here and DIY myself (zero experience though so might need further guidance when i buy the parts)

Prefer i7, ssd, good graphics card (want to play all graphic intensive games at a good level). Do i buy all parts in SG or buy some (e.g. Ssd) from amazon?

i5-4460 + Msi h97m g43 ~ $404
G.skill 8gb ddr3 ~ $100
Crucial mx100 256gb ssd ~ $159
Wd blue 1tb ~ $75
Msi gtx970 armor edition ~ $499 / Msi 290x lightning ~ $459
Samsung oem drive ~ $25
Superflower leadex 650w ~ $139
Fractal design R5 ~ $139
Win7 64 oem ~ $130
Dell s2340l ~ $209 / Dell u2414h ~ $359

$2088 / $2388 buy and assemble @ pctheme ask for discount. i5 and i7 have no noticeable diff in gaming, only get a i7 if u doing video editing or intense simulation.

Thanks bros for the reply. Gtx 970 or r290 ah?

290x is quite hot. But the lightning edition is different in that the heatsink is bigger. If u r okay with the heat output, then u can consider MSI r9 290x lightning at $459. Do note that 290x is considered 1 tier higher than 970. In gaming, it should be a few fps higher than 970, at the expenses of higher heat output and consumes more power.
