I have a old HDD 1TB WD Blue from January 2014. I'm planning to bring it over to my new build and use it as a secondary drive.

The HDD has Windows 7 installed on it and my new build with an SSD has Windows 10 installed.

Do I need to format it before bringing it over? Or am I able to format it with Windows 10?

You can format it after the transfer with your Windows 10 OS after you copied any important files

Could you recommend me a guide for the formatting?

And, what do you mean by "after you copied any important files?"

Is it backing up of the HDD? If so, do I back up /appdata? Will it be in conflict with Windows 10 OS?

By "any important files", we mean any files that are literally important to you.

Eg. Photos, work documents, music and video files.

This is to save the hassle of trying to get those files back should you need them in the future and have unfortunately formatted your HDD.

Sure make you don't connect the old HDD to your new rig during OS setup. Connect only after OS setup complete.

Formatting a HDD is a basic operation. Why do you need a trusted guide to do so? Sell away after format?
