I just ordered that bundle from Aftershock last week. Price is $999 though, plus $20 delivery.

I posted in another thread that their price seems to fluctuate every now and then. I saw the same bundle went up to $45 around 3 weeks ago.

Was intending to DIY my computer but aftershock prices are really competitive

Seems like DIY only save $25? and difference seems to be gigabyte mobo vs asrock mobo & psu bronze vs gold
I have my own hdd/ssd so not included them in DIY build

Really leaning towards this aftershock pc because saving $25 only does not seem worth it to DIY.

If price is almost the same, go for AF.

Why? Do you have time to RMA if there are any issues and troubleshoot,

You can claim warranty at AF, 1 location if any issues. Dont forget AF or other custom builders which delivers to you. You save upfront $30 transport home if not driving.

If not then you may need to individually RMA at distro, Ram, PSU, GPU are the common items that you may to RMA if things go wrong. Don't forget you need to make 2 trips. 1 to send and 1 to retrieve.

Are you a student with lotsa weekday afternoon free time? or working adult need to take leave and travel to east side? your pick.

Alot of the folks are comparing the brandless oems inside? are we talking about "just" prc made psu and ram? you can easily upgrade them after warranty. How hard is it to change them? order online less than $200 and arrive at your doorstep. is the 2 year warranty not enough to cover this risk? Anyone rems why we diy pc decades ago? HP, Acer and Dell computers are bitched to open and upgrade and their ventilation in their cramped cases. Thats the whole reason to diy a pc for upgrade ability and improvements in the system and most importantly the savings in performance .

Now? maybe worth it if you need a high end system for performance.

If you want and believe in reputable brands, you shd not even consider AF in the first place, imo. Lets get real. If branded confirm no need to RMA, all the distro eat grass liao. branded means no risk? in that case, all of us will be ordering directly from USA or taiwan.

I think no right or wrong (choose DIY or Aftershock).

You can always wait until ** end and get 1 or 2 SLS shop to quote u the whole system and compare the price.

Like everyone say if you build all the parts from 1 shop, u will get a 50 - 100 discount.

Discount is based on how one negotiates with the shop, not automatically given the moment your foot enters the shop.

Aftershock will generally cost more in any circumstances. If you are looking up DIY prices, you need to know where the bargains are in order to setup a system at a lower price.

What I would say is that there is no point trying to find differences between DIY or pre-built PC from say Aftershock. If you feel you are up to setting up and maintaining your own rig, then just go DIY. Otherwise if you think you are not up to the task of setting up your own rig, or have no knowledge/ time to maintain or troubleshoot it, then just go for Aftershock.

Personally I feel Aftershock PCs are generally decently priced vs the big brands like Acer, Asus, Lenovo, etc.

Not true, maybe 5 years ago when there was no competition AS will be more expensive. Now is the opposite already. DIY more ex than AS.

Anyway please buy Dreamcore, cause cannot find reviews for AS.

The amt of discount varies if you have asked. I dont think it is that much discount per sec unless you are getting a high end cpu or gpu.

Bronze and gold is only 4% difference in effiency on 100% load.

A good and reliable brand is more important. For Eg will you choose Seasonic bronze or Armageddon gold?

thanks for the information. calculated mine and its around 459watts. i chose 650W FSP/EVGA 80+ Bronze Certified PSU at aftershock
