Hi guys, Just got a Dlink DNS320. Issue is my transfer speed is really slow. I have no idea what is the problem. If I transfer files from the Nas to my pc. Its @ 6.7x mb/s. While transferring from Pc to Nas is 9.7x.
The Hdd is a Samsung F4 2TB. Router used is the Engenius ESR9850. I wonder if I did do something wrong with it. lol
Thanks,
Terence

doh.
the N in the NAS stands for Network.
So you are supposed to connect via network.
if you want directly, why bother with NAS? just buy normal USB enclosure.

yup u can connect directly using a crossed lan cable.

No need cross cable. A straight cable will also do the job well.
Looks like DNS-320 have built-in feature to auto detect connect straight or cross cable.
Good feature. Tested working.

Then yrs is prob the wireless that is the issue not the NAS

havent exactly tested on cable but as far as i recall the results wasnt fantastic.

i shall go test it tonight also to get a clearer picture.

i was getting the same result as TS when i was moving 46GB of files from the NAS to the PC.

Router used is the Singnet 2Wire 5012NV.

My laptop's Wireless Card is on N also.

Signal loss would be minimum i reckon since my laptop is like 1m away only from the router :p

MBps or mbps? Windows PC copying shows MBps. See this chaps avg speed. Depends on file size too.
http://www.krazyworks.com/d-link-dns-320-nas-review/

Wireless even if u r next to router will be a big factor. Yes signal is great but throughput still depends. If u r perm next to router and transferring much data regularly, suggest u plug in to Ethernet

On Engenius 9850 router with NAS DNS 320 too. with Cable on smaller file block like 1-2GB..speed is 25MBytes/sec...

on big file > 4GB per single file, getting around 15-18Mbytes/sec

On G wireless network, 2-3MBytes per sec..
On N wireless, the throughput is the most 5MBytes /sec despite the Notebook and AP next to each other

krazywork's results seems to be what i am getting when i am wired up.

Bro HMAN's results is what i am getting now.

Hi
I am also getting slow speeds even i am on Cat 6 cables wired at home.
Using Dlink DGL4300 wired with my NAS and Laptop. I am getting avg of 6-7MBps on the transfers.
Files that i am transfering are sizes between 300MB to 1.4GB. I have already disable FFP liao but still at this speed.

Any other solutions?? How to actually check the cable signal. I only check the port using my laptop to ensure that it is 1Gbps connection rate.

Thanks
