Hi
I am also getting slow speeds even i am on Cat 6 cables wired at home.
Using Dlink DGL4300 wired with my NAS and Laptop. I am getting avg of 6-7MBps on the transfers.
Files that i am transfering are sizes between 300MB to 1.4GB. I have already disable FFP liao but still at this speed.

Any other solutions?? How to actually check the cable signal. I only check the port using my laptop to ensure that it is 1Gbps connection rate.

Thanks
Is your router giga port.

I'm only getting 2MBps-3MBps transfers.

My setup
CISCO E4200
1TB Seagate 7200RPM SATA2
Disabled uPNP. No FunPlug.
Using 500MBps HomePlugs from Router to PC.
Changed router to DNS320 cable (CAT 5E) twice.

What could be the problem? Anyone can help please?

Probably the bottleneck is your homeplug. Try connecting NAS and PC on the same router and perform test or do data transfer to confirm.

Hi guys, Just got a Dlink DNS320. Issue is my transfer speed is really slow. I have no idea what is the problem. If I transfer files from the Nas to my pc. Its @ 6.7x mb/s. While transferring from Pc to Nas is 9.7x.
The Hdd is a Samsung F4 2TB. Router used is the Engenius ESR9850. I wonder if I did do something wrong with it. lol
Thanks,
Terence

Not sure where the bottleneck is .... I am using Asus RT-N56U .... was able to hit close to 20MB/s via gigabit, for copying from PC to NAS.

But transferring files from one folder to another folder on the DNS-320 is really very slow, about 10MB/s or less. Unless you do the "dos prompt" thingy to access it.

Anyway, after playing with DNS-320 for about 2 weeks ..... and some tests ... I decided to setup a DIY PC as NAS.

Now .... copying files to my NAS(PC) is typically about 70MB-80MB/s. Can hit >100MB/s but not sustainable. Slowest is slightly under 60MB/s .... which is still alot faster.

So I am selling my DNS-320 now ... anybody interested?

To know what speed you are on .... see the router. If the blinking light at the port connected is "green" = 100Mbps. If "orange" = 1Gbps.

Is your NAS DNS-320?

i also experience sluggish speed transfer between my DNS-320 and my iMac. i have a Asus RT-N56U with a Maxonline express 16Mbps plan. iMac is ethernet to my Asus RT-N56U. i don't expect fabulous transfer speed. 20MB/s is really fine with me, but i am not even close to that. could you see where the problem lies? no funplug whatsoever. thanks!

Do you have a notebook or PC that is Windows 7? Connect and try. Mac might have some requirements.

Then it should be some settings that need to be done on the Mac, since you mentioned that you only encounter problem when use with Mac.

Yea. Now I realised its still freaking slow.. But at least its better then 1-2mb/s lol
are you guys on raid1?

I am. Which might explain the slow speed. But oh well. No space.. And I dont wanna mess around doing another config.

Very frustrating today.

I have always gotten the same result as TS (about 10+mbps) when transferring file to the NAS using wired LAN. I am also using the same wireless router. Today I stripped the whole network and isolated everything to perform a test. Same result.

I took an old harddisk and reformatted it inside the NAS. Same result. I disabled P2P (I don't have fun plug). Same result. I tested the same above setup with my DNS-323 and I am getting 17+mbps. I tested the transfer speed between two laptops and I am getting 70+ speed.

I went to the shop to buy a Engenius 5 ports Gigabit Switch and the guy at the shop suggested that I use CAT6 cables. I am already using CAT5E. Do I really have to use CAT6 to improve the transfer speed?

DNS-320 No link speed choice of 1000

Hi gurus,
I am using DNS-320 with ASUS RT-AC66U Router with Cat6 cables,
however, there is no choice of 1000 link speed available.
Hence the max transfer rate I got was ~10mb/s.
Kindly advise how to get the Link speed choice of Gigabit.
Appreciate in advance.

Should have search the main DNS-320 thread first instead of digging up a 3yrs old thread.

Anyway, your problem is likely due to faulty LAN port as reported by fellow HWZer. Refer starting from here for the full story.
