Rise and fall of a torrent speed. I have set to "no peer exchange" and only "required encrypted connections". Screen capture is after 3 mins of adding the torrent, Ubuntu.

how to install the transmission to the DNS-323

Wait for someone to provide step by step instruction. Installing is pretty easy, get pre-compiled binaries/files and copy over. But configuration and setup for non-unix/linux users will be a pain.
After you clear that hurdle, it will be fine.

Woot, will try when I get back from camp. Btw to Mac users, the DNS-323 works fine with Time Machine.

Actually the process of setting up Clutch is simple. I have included the required files which you can juz funpkg.sh them for installation. Those techies can just try it out :)

LED and Degraded Status means what?

Just got my 323 from the IT show... setup everytime and found something not explained anywhere, can the experts here advise a noobie like me? TIA

Question 1:
I got this
degradedcm3.jpg

Is the "Degraded" means normal for RAID 1?

Question 2:
Does anyone knows when the Drive LED indicate PINK colour means what? Subsequently the Drive LED went back to BLUE, should be okay right?

Pink means amber. Could mean that particular hard disk is falling?

Is your system and NAS in the same workgroup? Re-check your setting in the NAS. You can try disable password access to NAS first and check if it will map on you system.

Everytime I restart my computer, I need to go to the easy install to connect the disk.

It'll ask for the password.

Thanks for the heads up.

try this out, at least it worked for me.
1. Make sure you can ping your NAS
2. Use explorer, type in the ip address of the NAS, e.g. \\10.10.10.100
3. You should see "Volume_1"
4. Map your drive

Amber: of a medium to dark brownish yellow color

Is this the color u saw?

Check out the manual. It says amber means hardware failure.

First, try to set a static ip address for the DNS-323 if you have not done so. It's under the lan settings via the web interface. This is to prevent the problem of having a wrong ip address when your router reassign a new ip address once the dhcp lease has expired or DNS-323 reboots and grabs a new ip address.

Second, password for mapped drive or the easysearch utility?
For mapped drive, you need to check the user/password assigned to accessed the drive folders, available via web interface for DNS-323 under network access.
The Easysearch utility is pure crap, it can be hindered by firewalls or dynamic ip addresses, it will prompt for admin password but will fail the password check, even when the default is blank. I did not even use this tool.

Finally, when trying to access the mapped drive, the DNS-323 might have the drive spun down. It will take a few seconds to spin back up, your machine might fail to log in during this time. Try to map to drive again, with the user/password assigned for network access. Best to use a static address. Right-click on either My Computer or My Network Places.
