What router you using?
If you can ftp locally, you should be able to ftp globally.
As a test, you should put your NAS in the DMZ temporarily to see if it works.
Then check your routers firewall settings.
Finally got it. I juz need to change http: to ftp: and it is done! It is a ftp server not a webserver....
Thks for all who help.
update:
Can access at home but not in office! any way out? thks

Maybe I should explain what my question really refers to.
I have more than 700Gig of data that I plan to put in dns-323 in raid 0 config so I have enough space for all my files. But I also need redundancy - so what backup strategy do you guys recommend? Get a second dns-323? or can I utilise the usb port to connect to a 2-bay external drives and do a scheduled backup?
If this is the case, your advise would be RAID1 for each NAS? Does 323 have standard application to do nas to nas backup?USB port not meant for external storage, although there are workaround to make it work.
My suggestion is to get 2 NAS, 1 for main, 1 for backup. You should be able to configure NAS 2 to copy from NAS one periodically. Then no need to have PC running.
I also advised against running RAID0. There is little performance benefit as the bottleneck is in your network. Failure on 1 disk will kill all your data. In the end I kept it as separate drives.
Under RAID 1 scenario, what if the DNS 323 itself fails but both hard disk are fine ? Can my WIndows PC still gain access to the ext2/3 files?
Thinking of geting a set but concerned abt the RAID/NAS hardware failure itself and not the drives.

In d-link website it states that 323 supports any size of hard drives. Can anybody verify this or has anybody tried big size like 2x1TB config?
scheduled ftp will be copying everything from nas1 to nas2
rsync will only copy the difference, moreover will del the files that is not in nas1
i oni have 1 dns-323dns-323 has rsync?
sorry i noobi oni have 1 dns-323
