delete downloaded file "Mldonkey"

After downloading using mldonkey, I cant delete the files in the incoming directory. It always shown "read" only in the folder properties. Any help? Cheers!

i keep having error about Fail to map drive.. =(

any idea?

same here, i think its a Vista issue, i also keep having vista saying they need a driver to install dlink's network storage enclosure. in the end i just mapped it by running this on the the cmd line

\\192.168.0.*\Volumne_1

the explorer will launch the browser to that drive and u can map from there manually by rightclicking on the drive folder in explorer.

iTunes still can't detect DNS323. :slant: Have open both TCP and UDP port.. wonder what's the problem.

Any error message?

Itunes running and configured properly on your PC as well? You can type netstat -an via telnet or ssh console to see all the open ports opened on the dns-323, similarly your itunes on PC should be trying to connect to DNS-323 ip address via TCP through port 3689.

Or simply set your firewall to trust all communication within your local network or just that dns-323 ip address...

I believe your mldonkey generates files belonging to root, the superuser. You can't delete other's files through samba shares via another user login and must be done through telnet or ssh as root user.

Use ls -l command to view ownership of files.

Read up on linux filesystem. Defrag and scandisk are not necessary and might damage your drives if provided as a "button" for user to click. The console tools are still there, either use fsck or e2fsck, warning : read on how to use it.

Virus....
1. It's a human problem, your behaviour causes it to be infected.
2. It's linux, typical windows virus don't infect linux
3. It's linux and a NAS, it don't have much applications for you to run.E.g email client. It don't have "autorun" junk like windows OS, e.g screensaver, email scripts, etc. Most of the time you are running it manually(hopefully "clean" stuff) and will be rarely running any crap on the machine. If still love to run crap, refer to point 1.
4. Yes, there's antivirus for linux. Mainly to scan files you store there infected with windows virus that don't affect linux, e.g Word documents infected with virus script. Might as well check your files on the PC first before moving them over. Refer to point 1...
5. Yes, there's very few linux viruses, it takes a complete idiot to infect himself, refer to point 1. Less than 100 linux viruses compared to almost 1 million windows viruses...

You'll have more a security threat from people/bots/worms hacking into you if you open the NAS to the internet via unsecured "features", e.g FTP, HTTP, blah. Even secured feature like SSH will be hacked over time via brute force, provided you attracted some script kiddie or a real hacker attention for some inane reason ...
