could be because sometimes the url you get from is fetching a .php file or something. It's not a direct link to the actual torrent. Whereas if you wait for the save as dialog box, then the torrent appears. It doesn't hurt to just download a torrent, how many kb only?

Thanks Sonic... but could you elaborate on :

Try dl the torrent and upload from there.

Are you saying to dl the torrent remotely (ie. not on on the DNS323 first) then "upload" via DNS323 ? err... how to do that?

I couldn't find any torrent search sites inside Clutch itself.. just the "open" dialog option/button.

Thanks in advance !

I have this problem also when the .torrent file i want to upload is larger than 100Kb in file size. upload .torrent file less than 100Kb without problem.

anyway, managed to solve my problem by adding a folder named 'tmp' in the root directory (Volume_1) and give this folder read/write permission to everyone.

You solve the upload problem by adding the extra folder?
Copy the torrents into the extra folder and upload into Clutch from there?

Any 1 using Dlink DI634M modem? I hook up the DNS323 and set as FTP Server..
Done port forwarding. enable DMZ but I still can't access my FTP://192.168.0.XXX. Only able to access from my PC on my WAN/LAN.

Finally, my 323 is up and running.

I am still a newbie in the world of networking; thus needs your advice.

1) I setup my 2 HDDs as Raid 1 and when I map the drive, all I can see is 1 HDD volume, is this normal? Also, it seem that I always need to physical map the drive volume whenever I startup my pc, is it the same as you guys?

2) I access the 323 by ethernet through a router and realise that I cannot surf the internet wirelessly. However, when I removed the ethernet connection from my pc to the 323, my internet works. How to use the 323 and surf net at the same time?

Appreciates your advice.

No, i just create a empty folder named 'tmp' inside Volume_1.
than i just upload .torrent files as normal in clutch.
i think the extra folder is only used by lighttpd for temporary caches. (i might be wrong)

HI Wolfaro... what do you actually wanna do ? FTP remotely on your LAN ? or FTP remotely from outside your LAN ?

I am using a DGL-4300 router, and I had to goto Advanced -> Virtual Server, and turn on FTP service as well as stating the IP for the DNS323.

Gentle reminder that if you are trying to ftp remotely from outside your LAN, you would need to note down your router/modem's WAN IP address.

hope this helps :)

Before I switched to Mac last week, I remember using the Dlink configuration software to map and didn't need to re-map everytime. For Mac, I didn't even need to do anything and it showed up on the Shared tab on the Finder window.. cool.

As for (2)... Maybe the Gurus can help, but if i were you, I would suspect maybe you'd turned on DNS323's DHCP service? You should only have your original Router run DHCP and not both Router and DNS323.

cheers.

Thanks bro... so meaning I would "save as" the torrent file onto the local comp ? Should I have a local copy of transmission on my local comp? I used to use BitComet and they would have a .bc file type for those un-finished files... does clutch look for those type of file type (for transmission?)

Strange... I thought the whole point in getting transmission and clutch on DNS323 was to be able to dl torrents remotely without the use of local comp.. or is it that after clutch "upload" the file, I would be able to switch off the local comp ?

thanks again!

Ya, go inside your router/modem to find the router/modem WAN IP.
I just port forward port 21 & start the FTP & can access the FTP from my
work place using my router WAN IP...

Hi All:

thanks for all the help in this thread. I got clutch and transmission working fine. Very big thank you goes out to Bro Tuakong on setting up the step-by-step guide and Bro Shadowandy for compiling the files and teaching the rest.

Right now.. I was wondering how do we protect ourselves from prying hackers... i mean... except for FTP (which you can set user/passwords)... anyone seems to be able to http into my clutch (provided he/she knows my WAN ip)... so how do you protect it?

I realized for Telnet as well.. so yesterday i switched off my telnet virtual server as such that only LAN telnet sessions was only available.

thanks

perhaps you can wait for Tuakong to adapt my guide of password protecting the clutch installation which has been around for quite sometime to address this issue

I restarted my DNS-323 without killing the MLDonkey. Now I cannot start MLDonkey. Anyone can help?

I wonder how MLDonkey stack up against the ridiculously multi-protocol, indecently fast and furious Aria2 download super-agent.
