Hi there

Can i have some quick ans.

Is there any different in the file transfer speed over a 100mbps and 1000mbps network connection for the dns-323? I know 323 is a slow nas drive.

What will be the average write/read in mb/s over a 100mbps and 1000mbps network connection for the dlink dns-323?

I'm asking this cos thinking weather should i upgrade my router to gigaport to make full use of the dns-323 gigaport network. (I know all my network have to be in gigaport)

Thanks.

would enabling Jumbo Frame make any diff in a desktop PC environment?
unless you are on an enterprise Main Frame server would there be an impact?

Test it out yourself.

I enable mine to 9k. Good transfer speed improvement.

Make sure you enable the router and pc controller as well. Switch, if any, must also support jumbo frame.

One of my 323 NAS seems to have disk failure...

Volume Name: Volume_1
Volume Type: RAID 1
Sync Time Remaining: Degraded
Total Hard Drive Capacity: 981858 MB
Used Space: 852338 MB
Unused Space: 129520 MB

But how to know which hdd fail? The LED for the left HDD is flashing while the right is stationary.

Note that degraded may simply mean that the harddisks are out of sync - usually the HDD is still ok.
Do you see an option in the admin ui to rebuild the array?
For my case, I'll telnet in to manually add the HDD back into the array - requires fun_plug.

Got a replacement panel with the help of dlink support. S$10. However the new cover got no metal plate behind.

Have you map the drive before? If you can see the NAS device under Network, just double-click on it will open up the volume(s). Alternatively, type \\nas-ip under run (replace "nas-ip" with the actual IP address or NAS name).

I can see NAS under network but once I click it, it says cannot access drive.
Using Easysearch, I can see the 2 drive, but cannot map them.
It says "fail to map drive"

yes, I can map the drive using my xp machine but not windows 7 machine, Strange....

Hmm, I'm using Win7 and have not encounter this. It will prompt for username/password if one has changed the default permission Network Shared settings.

Not sure if this will help. Go to Control Panel -> Credential Manager and see if there is entry under Windows Credentials, if yes then delete it.

repost from network subforum.. hope someone can help me:

i replaced 2wire 5012NV from 2701HGV-E.. do i need to set anything for itunes server to work?

i can access my dns-323 via smb but not via itunes port 3689..

as suggested by Apple's support page, I had opened port 5297, 5298, 5353 (both TCP and UDP) in additional to 3689 in my DNS-323. Still cannot.

But when I copy some mp3 over to my computer and use home-sharing function in iTunes.. it works without any port-forwarding..
