Economy special meals are halal/vegetarian or other religious option that the airline accommodates

only business class and above have speciality food. there's no way that the airlines will ever serve this in economy class, not with the amount we're paying for economy class.

If full service airline, u can request for halal, low fat, bland, children etc type meals in economy.

EVA Air offers Din Tai Fung beef noodles in business class, at least on my TPE - SIN flight.
SQ offers Kyo Kaiseiki on selected flights in first class/suites (usually to/from Japan flights).

econ jiak oily chicken with veggie loh. plane food is not cook in air. biz got the book the chef menu.
