Hi butties, it's me again.

So I'm in process of shopping for my new rig, just waiting for delivery of the parts now. I wonder if I need a HDD? Or should I use a SATA SDD as a media storage drive? What are my options?

Currently I've bought WD SN850 1x 1TB and 1x 500Gb for my new build.

For HDD now I am more interested in enterprise grade quality for better peace of mind as prices/cost is no longer hard to swallow compare decade ago

Any recommendations for a 1 or 2TB?
my current fav is Toshiba brand.

Toshiba Enterprise HDD

seems 2TB is out of stock, only left 4TB capacity or higher.

just note that for HDD initial operation of few months the mechanical HDD sound will be obvious when first install compare to SSD, after a while probably few months it will be more silent as windows have less access for data indexing.

Toshiba P300 is one of the few regular-priced CMR drives left around so I'd get that. Refer here for which models are CMR.

If you only need 2TB and speed, I suggest you just go for Sata SSD, using HDD for 2TB will probably a regret purchase in longer term for the pricing now in term of performance.

I really don't have much to store.. 1 TB is more than enough for my media actually..

Can you please guide my understanding if SATA SSD is okay for "bukit timah"? Also may I trouble you for recommendations again?
