My Superflower PSU just POP super loud just now when i turn on my pc.. whole house power trip. Hopefully it is on PSU that is blown.

definitely wear n tear sets in overtime. maybe it could be coil whine loudly or just a simple pop one day anyway one of the bros had a gd ans to this at page 1.

just also seeing how many bros here port over their when they upgrade

u heng its just the psu. u suai ur mobo could be dead too. sometimes its a sign to upgrade

What would be a value for money PSU between 650W - 750W which you guys will recommend?

u asked me i alway recommend seasonic...trusted n established, corsair got some bells n whistles but some psu also made by seasonic.so yeah

If trip main breaker. Should be just rectifier circuit or FET short circuit. PC power supply is designed to have high voltage circuit isolated from low. Board etc should be safed.

It does. However, it seem older power supply is more reliable then new one. At least hardly saw those capacitor problem.

This is true. New hardware nowadays cannot be compared to the older ones when it comes to build quality. If you got a good PSU 5 or more years back, they generally are better than the new ones.

Anyway, I don't think PSU gets obsolete over time. With the exception of more power hungry boards that require at least an 8 pin power for the motherboard, nothing much has changed over the years. With little incentive for people to upgrade PSU due to very slow changes, PSU makers are pushing for higher wattage and efficiency as a "reason" to upgrade. Now they are adding RGB and giving it a different color to add lipstick to the pig.
