Do you charge your iphone overnight?

Eversince i got my iphone 5S, i charge once a day....Usually i charge it every night before htting the bed. The next morning i will unplug the phone from the charging cable...

Now i read some articles that charging over night is bad for battery health. So just want to ask do you guys charge over night as well? How true is this that charging overnight will spoil the battery health?

Sometimes i wake up to see my phone charged to 98% only.... sometime charged to 100% but it changed to 98% immediately once i disconnect from the cable. But the battery still can last me at least a day.....

Never bother to do that. I just make sure before i sleep it is more than 90%. I have "do not disturb" on from 12+ to 6. Woke up next morning still > 90%.

I occasionally do that but no issues as I use a timer adapter to charge if I've to charge overnight so it won't overcharge.

Here a tip, personally I find it working for me.

For overnight charging, I will use PC to charge due to lower 0.5A power.

PC charging is slower but overnight 6-8 hrs more than enough time.

If afternoon or evening, I charging mostly from the mains.

Another tip is before you sleep, 100% -> Airplane mode (easier) or switch it off (hassle).

Personally, I think that there is no harm in charging all night and I am doing that since iPhone 3G era.

Modern batteries and chargers prevent overcharging.

It is a good idea to occasionally (once a month) let the battery drain completely before charging. Another way is to charge the phone only when you battery goes below 20%.

When charging the phone, try switching to airplane mode, it will speed up the charging time.

If you do not feel safe to charge overnight, then unplug your phone when it reaches 100%.

By the way, ios7 onwards you will not see the full charged symbol, please take note.

In other words, when the battery shows 100%, it means that your phone is fully charged.

I leave my phone on the a dock (attached to the laptop) all day in the office or at home when working on my laptop or in the speaker dock. In short, it is at most plugged, but I make sure to have it drained at least once a month. I do that on all my Apple devices, from laptops to phones to tablets.

I can't remember what tool we used to POC the battery of the MacBook, iPad and iPhone - but the result was that once the battery is fully charged and still plugged, it will draw power from the source and bypasses the battery - hence reducing the cycle count.

I charge my phone overnight before hitting the sack.
I have been doing this for years for all my phones and I have no issues.
When in office, I leave my phone connected when not in use. My phone is always at 100% and i only disconnect from charging whenever I leave office or go pang sai.
The latter is impt to have phone....

Turn off the percentage.

If I am not wrong, when you charge overnight, once the phone reaches 100%, the circuit will cut off and draw the power from the wall socket.

This is to protect and prevent any unnecessary wastage of cycles for the battery.

And that explain the 98% thingy.

Been charging overnight since 3GS.

dont have much complain except the usual "battery dies faster as they aged". Like when its more than 1yr old. The batt seem to be less lasting.

I have been charging my phone overnight and my previous 4S battery is still pretty good even after 2 years.

Hence, it should be safe I guess as I'm doing the same for my 5S now as well.
