I'm using Samsung Note 5 now. I'm asking if I should enable the VoLTE or leave it as disabled ?

Does it consume a lot of data ?

I'm on Starhub now. When making calls do they charge to data or outgoting mimutes ?

"Satarhub" does not exist among Singapore telcos. You mean StarHub right? :s13:

Anyway, personally I disable the VoLTE function. It does not do much for me, and I don't really rely on voice calls or video calls much.

Also, depends on carrier. I believe VoLTE calltime would contribute to talktime as well, not just on data usage. Doesn't take up much data, I'm using M1 network, and I tried VoLTE 4 times just now, each of 1 minute VoLTE calls, and I can safely say VoLTE takes about 2-4MB per minute.

I don't know how you arrived at that 2-4MB usage on VoLTE.

All VoLTE usage in Singapore is charged as per airtime usage, not data usage.. You should not find the jump in data in your official Telco data monitoring feature, at least it doesn't reflect on singtel app.

VoLTE can be enable without mobile data.
That is to enhance your voice calls quality.

2 -4MB is more likely apps doing.
That is how you will able to receive notifications from apps.

VoLTE is important. Because when your phone calls come in it will still be on 4g. Switching back from 3g to 4g takes a while.

For IOS phones, the VoLTE is stable.. Not sure about android though.. Last time I used on Android, I had issues with voice calls not connecting.

I enabled it on iphone because i use tethering. If VoLTE is not enabled while tethering and suddenly a call comes in, your data connection will disconnect and will not work until you end the call.

VoLTE is Telco related issue.
Problem refer to them.

VoLTE has 2 main functions, iirc.
One is to enhance your voice calls, which is related to Telco.
2nd is if mobile data is turn on, voice calls and internet surfing are both active.
Meaning it would not be disconnected for either.
I had tested on this.

I am not using it as I am concerned about battery life. (might be a misplaced belief)

Same reason why voice calls on iPhones will not work with TPG simcards.

The phone do not support 4g calls/volte for the telco u are using.

it seems to me that Singtel Prepaid doesn't work in VoLTE. can't call or SMS.
works okay on 3G though.
