One point to bring up.
If you are converting videos to WMV and dropping them in, one setting i have tested that works is the convert to zune player settings in total video converter.

Anyone else has any other settings for WMV that works?

so far only Zune WMV works

after u've choosen ur target file type. just click on the "Setting" button on the lower right side, in the Output section.

codec: dun need to change this
audio bitrate: 128Kbps is good enough. or set it to follow source default bitrate.
video bitrate: 500-1500Kbps, depending on how much microSD space u can spare.
dimension: 640 x 480

hope this helps :D

the manual says in:
PRIVATE => DOCOMO => RINGER => RUDxxx

filename must be RINGxxxx.xxx (extension MLD or SMF
Yeah, I saw that but it didn't work. MLD and SMF are MIDIs, so I guess it doesn't accept MMF files after all?

I haven't really started playing with making customised ringtones for my SH905i, but I just went to check out the MobileHackerz 3GP wiki site to seek some references regarding ringtones for FOMA handsets, and I'm afraid I have to drop this bad news on u guys.

  • 500KB以下のファイルはWeb経由で着信音、メール着信音などに登録可能になります。

A mere translation of the above for those who don't understand the sentence, it means that for setting a normal ringer ringtone and email ringtone, it has to be below 500KB and downloaded via web. Usually for japanese users this isn't a major problem, becos they have alot of such free uploader websites available whereby japanese ppl usually can upload their own customised AAC ringtones to and downloading them directly via their own FOMA handsets via i-mode internet. This thing is impossible for us, as we all know our FOMA handsets are restricted in terms of the internet, because firstly we're not under NTT Docomo so we don't have i-mode internet, and secondly GPRS settings cannot be configured manually on the P905i or any of the FOMA handsets, so needless to say, we can't download anything manually via GPRS to our FOMA handsets, even if our simcards does come enabled with GPRS by default, via our telco carrier providers.

So like what hencanz bro has mentioned, u guys have to either stick with midi ringtones for customised ringtones for now, or either use Yamaha's Wave Sound Decorator to do WAV>MMF ringtones to MLD format, before using them on the phone. The latter method isn't all that bad, since u're still able to convert MP3 to WAV files to do voice ringtones, it just isn't gonna sound that good as compared to making AAC ringtones for ur handset.

I would also like to mention that, although it seems we can't use AAC ringtones on our FOMA handsets (due to the handset's restriction for internet) we might just be able to use i-Motion videos (encoded in MP4) as ringtones though, for an alternative solution. Just like how I am able to set the default Devil May Cry 4 video (in MP4 format) in my SH905i as a ringtone, though I'm not sure if customised i-Motion vids are allowed or not, so u guys will have to try it out urself. Please follow this transcoding guide provided here exactly, and lemme know whether it works for u guys.

Note: For the above transcoding.ini it's to be used in conjunction with the 3GP Convertor program as mentioned in Hencanz's #2 and #3 posts in this thread. And do kindly remember, folder restriction applies as explained in post #3 (i.e: files must be dropped and renamed accordingly like \SD_VIDEO\PRL001\MOLXXX.3gp or mp4)

Bro Hencanz please try the i-Motion method out and feedback for the rest of the P905i users? :)

thx for the valuable info, bro...

just now i've tried to set the default pre-installed I-Motion video as a ringtone & it works. but there's not option for ringtone for those videos tat we copied into SD_VIDEO :s11:

so ur DMC4 video is default from the phone or u copied one?
