Ok meaning, as long as I don’t’ turn on the iCloud Photo, and I checked all the rest of the apps at the iCloud Backup Tab, the phone will backup all files (including Photos) to the iCloud whenever I put the phone to charge in a connected wireless environment.
In the event when I need to restore my iphone, I choose the “Restore from iCloud Backup” option.

Am I right?

Hence is the Backup Size similar to the Backup via iTunes?

Yes.

I'm not sure how the backup size is calculated though.

You should consider leaving iCloud Photo Library turned on.

Hi PetPet,

Noted your last! Thanks for your help!

I had a sudden iPhone malfunction (un-responsive black screen) while listening to radio app via bluetooth earphone just days ago while I'm in town. Since i was nearby, I walk right to Apple Shop and ask for help.

The staffs tried but also no dice and they re-direct me to 2nd floor support immediately and within an hour, they replace a new iPhone for me. I have only a week old iTunes Backup at home. Hence one week of data lost.

Lesson learned. always auto backup to iCloud.

But Im confused with the setting. Damn!

Nice! Which phone are you using? Still have applecare? Free replacement is good.

Anyway, I always leave iCloud photos on devices I wanted to upload to iCloud automatically. 5gb is a bit too less, 50gb for 1 dollar plus a month it’s worth it to me.

Hope that helps cheers

How do you share the iCloud backup? Two phones using one Apple ID account? I have subscribed one 50GB for myself and another 50GB for my wife since.

Btw does the iCloud backup take days to complete? I check today, only partial photos are uploaded. And I guess partial backup is backed up assuming from the size of backup file.
