Saw monitors unboxed saying

Asus XG27ucdmg more worth vs Asus PG27UCDM.

I don’t need Dolby vision, and since DSC is visually lossless, any other loss if I opt for cheaper option? Price difference around 250 sgd

go with 2.1 if you want multi stream transport in the future, or if you have
plans to go to higher resolution with high refresh rates 4k @ 480hz
Yeah but reviewers all say don’t seem to be worth it. Image quality is visually lossless etc.

my use is primarily for gaming only. Single monitor setup

I said DP not hdmi bro
DP only got 1.4 and 2.1 no?

btw, I am using 3x 4k 240HZ QD oled monitors all running on DP 1.4. So your info is wrong fyi. Maybe can stick to your Sonos group instead. Also, remember you kicked me out from your Telegram group when you refused to admit your own mistake that you were wrong about the mounting options.

DisplayPort 2.1 offers a significant upgrade over DisplayPort 1.4, primarily in terms of bandwidth, resolution, and refresh rates. DP 2.1 boasts a much higher maximum bandwidth (80 Gbps) compared to DP 1.4 (32.4 Gbps), enabling support for higher resolutions like 16K at 60Hz and 8K at 120Hz, or 4K at 240Hz, with and without compression. DP 1.4 is limited to 8K at 30Hz or 4K at 120Hz without compression.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Bandwidth:

    • DP 1.4: Maximum bandwidth of 32.4 Gbps.
    • DP 2.1: Maximum bandwidth of 80 Gbps, enabling much higher data transfer rates.

Actually… I think for the current generation of monitors and GPUs… DP 2.1 is not required.
For the common resolutions and refresh rates used, it's overkill.

But if you're buying leading-edge hardware and running it to its full potential, DP2.1 is finally here to take them to the next level.

I wrote more about them when Radeon RX 7900 series launched; check this segment:-
