Does FB Messenger use Telco SMS or data?

Juz realised my plan got no free sms, so by switching to FB Messenger to sms, will I incur SMS charges from Telco?

but bear in mind that by using fb messenger, i think they will let u send to those in your fb contact and not like this sms kind.

The alternative to sms is whatsapp, u can send messages via whatsapp using home wifii o r free wifi outside. Free Wifi is using data free

All data via Facebook. That can't be said the same for Google messaging where it integrate sms into their app I think.

Reason I asked coz my plan dun give free sms n me doing hitch then to commute with riders always thru sms. So now I changed default sms to FB Messenger but hor very hard to use leh....

mine is prepaid card, both incoming and outgoing sms are chargeable, except otp, so i don't use sms, I use whataspp
