Does microSD's adapter bottleneck transfer speed?

Quick check. I'm considering between buying USB stick vs microSD card.

Reason why I consider microSD card is it can be used as microSD, SD, USB (via adapters) albeit being slightly more ex.

If SanDisk Ultra Class 10 16GB transfer speed states 30MB/s, would the type of SD or SD>USB adapter affect my transfer speed?

All talking about practical speeds.

It is definitely much slower than Sandisk Extreme USB3.0 thumb drive.
