- 2013 Sep ORD
- PES C2L9, age 27
- No letter nor anyone told me which unit am I in
- Never do any reservist during NTU (Ended on Dec 2017)
- Never call up for reservist this year despite graduated from NTU (My colleague from SMU is called up to do reservist in Dec instead)

So do I need an exit permit if I intend to work or study (I.e. Taking MBA) overseas?

Unless you are PES F, regardless whether you need to do reservist or not, if you exit the country for more than 6 months, you need to apply for exit permit.

if u study in local IHL, they can still call u to do ICT during the longer school holiday period in between...in a way good so that U can start clearing ICT and MR earlier.

EP is only applicable if u need to be out of singapore for more than 6 months.
During the so-called 'out station' period, they will put u on holding list.

Do you receive a letter from MINDEF shortly after ORD that you have been posted to holding list under NSPC?

If so then most likely in the next couple of years you are not required to go for any ICT/IPPT until MINDEF found a unit for you and notify you.

yes you are liable for ICT and reservist.

but SAF knows that you are studying, so you are on the IHL list.

that being said, depending on manpower needs, some students do get called back during hols for ICT. (your NTU will liase with SAF side.)

YES, C2 is liable for ICT.

after you finish up with NTU, it is possible that SAF may call you back for ICT.

when it will be or how frequent depends on which unit you will be needed at. SAF is not school; not everyone has the same schedule.

you need to let SAF know if you intend to study overseas, subject to approval of course.

assuming u r studying in local IHL, MINDEF can only call the NSmen back for ICT outside your term time i.e. during the post exam period bah

if your ict happens to clash with your overseas study, sure they will ask u show proof in your deferment application with things such as course acceptance letter or something

Wahhhhh. So what if I have applied for overseas based jobs and currently in the interview stage? Do I apply Certificate of Clearance (Police certification of no criminal record) along with other Work visa related first, or do I seek SAF approval first?

You needs Certificate of Clearance (Police certification of no criminal record) an etc to get a job in order for employer to apply Work visa for you, right?

With a supporting documents like employment contract or even work visa, then you can convince SAF that you are really working overseas to be apply for long term exit permit, right?
